Trailer Time: The Book of Life (2014) *Produced by Guillermo del Toro*

20th Century Fox has released the trailer for The Book of Life, opening in theaters on October 17 and voiced by Diego Luna, Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Ice Cube, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Placido Domingo, Hector Elizondo, Ana de la Reguera, Eugenio Derbez, Gabriel Iglesias, Ricardo “El Mandril” Sanchez and Danny Trejo. The animated comedy is produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Jorge Gutierrez.

The Book of Life is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, The Book of Life encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.

  1. I thought this would be darker. It’s not a bad thing that it’s not though, it looks awesome. Del Toro is working on a different level. Anything he’s involved with is amazing. The fact that Godzilla is making so much more than Pacific Rim eats me up.

    1. I liked Pacific Rim a lot more on a second viewing when I could skip any scene Charlie Day was in….I mean it’s a move about Jaegers. I’m sort of obligated to like it from a familial standpoint.

      1. Be honest with me. Did you like Godzilla better, or Pacific Rim? I promise not to hold it against you if you are on the wrong side of all sanity and reason.

      2. I think Godzilla is a better made movie for what it was trying to do; Pac Rim is more fun and given the choice, I’d watch Pac Rim….then the last 30 minutes of Godzilla.
