Killing Time – June 19, 2014

killing time

“Time is the only critic without ambition.”
~ John Steinbeck

What is your preferred form of media?  If tomorrow, agents of the Danish Secret Police (who may or may not be following me) whisk you away and are merciful enough to let you bring an endless supply of one type of media, what would it be?  Books?  Comics?  Video Games?  Movies?  TV?  Macaroni art?  Legos just because you’re trying to suck up to the Danes?

I find that what I most feel like doing has quite a lot to do with the weather.  For a long time I lived in Southern California and, as SoCal has no weather, everything was pretty equal.  Now that I live where weather is major factor again, I find it impacting my media consumption.  For example: rain = reading.  Nothing is more peaceful that listening to rainfall while reading.  Well, narcotics, but I’m trying to keep it on-topic.  Freezing cold = movies.  I want a blanket, a hot beverage and a movie marathon.  Currently, where I live, it is hot and humid on a Biblical-punishment scale.  I sit in front of the a/c vent and I play a lot of video games.  I want the illusion of doing something, but it is actually too hot to do things.  Like assassinating people.  I’m doing that a lot in games, but it’s impractical given the humidity level.  Does weather affect how you snort your entertainment of choice?  By the way, I completely blame both humidity and the Danish Secret Police for the random quality of this week’s column.

Killing Time milestones this week: The site passed 95,000 hits and 700 likes over on the Facebook site.  We also opened the completely random and bottomless ghetto message board for all to comment upon whatever they’d like to over at the top of the homepage (https://justkillingti.me).  Topics already covered: Dadaism and cosplay porn.  This is what happens when I let you people have a sandbox.

The most viewed post of the week was, How to Train Your Dragon Trailer #2, which relieves me to no end because I am running out of ways to good-naturedly joke about the viral Despicable Me 2 review.

Pleas to the Danish throne, begging them to allow Greenland access to KT have fallen upon deaf ears.  How can the country that brings us LEGOs be so tyrannical toward their subjects on that big hunk of ice they own?  WHY?  DEAR GOD, WHY? (furtive glances behind corners for agents of the DSS……Danish Secret Service, thought we’d covered this)
