Warner Bros. has sent us the first official trailer for dierctor Gavin O’Connor’s latest project, The Accountant(2016), starring Ben Affleck, J.K. Simmons, John Lithgow, Anna Kendrick, and Jon Bernthal. The film will open in theaters across the United States on October 14.
Synopsis: Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.
This looks genuinley terrific, but people are going to hear “accountant” and zone out. It’s the same reason Stroke of Genius, about the windshield wiper guy, did not find much of an audience. It was an incredible story with a satisfying conclusion, but it revolved around windshield wipers, and people could not muster any excitement.
That said… I can’t wait for this.

Warrior was amazing, and if you haven’t seen it you need to immediately. I’ll see it because O’Connor is a great director. Plus I know like 8 accountants, so this may be a party film in my group.

Now that you mention it, i don’t think I’ve ever met an accountant I didn’t like. Then again, none of them ever seemed to be living on the edge.
