The trend of the year in 2016 in video games has been the remastering of past classics up to current 1080p HD glory.  While some of these are a great idea (Resident Evil 4); some don’t seem worthy of revisiting (Resident Evil 5), and the trend as a whole seems on the brink of getting out of control and taking away from the development of new games.  One remastered collection that, I think, all gamers have been anticipating is the release today of BioShock: The Collection.

BioShock: The Collection contains all three games in the BioShock trilogy (BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite).  All have been gloriously remastered to current console generation standards, and in addition to all three core games being included, all the DLC for the second and third games (excluding the multiplayer) has been added into the complete BioShock experience leaving achievement hunters the chance to replay two of the best games ever made (and it’s not like BioShock 2 was in any way bad) and pick up a potential 196 achievements for 3,905 potential achievement points.  There are plenty of easter eggs, including a museum of discarded design concepts, new challenges, and director’s commentary behind BioShock mastermind Ken Levine (if you can find the golden reels hidden throughout the games).  I got a chance to play the beginning of BioShock and it looks astounding.  I can’t wait to revisit Rapture and Columbia, where I’m still mulling over the mind-blowing ending to BioShock Infinite.  The massive list of achievements below is courtesy of the Internet standard for achievement spelunkers: xboxachievements.com.
