Trailer Time: Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 (2017) *Hooked on a Feeling Again*

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be the next film in the MCU after this November’s Doctor Strange.  That’s movie #14 if you’re scoring at home.  I love this teaser.  Doesn’t show too much, teases us with imagery and the characters we fell in love with in 2014’s first installment, and while I’m surprised it wasn’t attached to Doctor Strange, I’m always glad to see new Marvel.  The Guardians of the Galaxy will return on May 5, 2017.

  1. I wish they had played something from Peter’s new mix tape.

Even still, this just put me in a great mood. This is what the DCEU films are lacking. Right now those movies are dour and devoid of fun, but even if the WB people get their act together and strike the right balance, I hope they realize that the path they’re forging, towards a darker, more gravitas-filled superhero universe, will forever consign them to second place. A lot of dark movies have been wildly successful, but when you want to release at least three of these films a year, the universe that people actually want to inhabit is the universe that will prevail.

Also this teaser poster is wonderful. Why is it always the teaser posters?

    1. Hey Rogue One’s final poster is hanging on my wall already, so we still get a few good ones. But Lord, this is fun. This movie is going to open so huge and it’s hilarious because NONE of these characters were known before the movie except to geeks like me preaching the gospel of Rocket and Groot. Marvel took D-list characters and made a bunch of A-listers and the rest B-list while carving out a whole new section of the MCU. If Dr. Strange can do the same for the supernatural side of the MCU, it just opens up more and more possibilities. WB and FOX can continue to be tone-deaf. I think people have, at this point, separated a super hero film from a MCU film. GOG2 will pass Star Trek and make the MCU only behind Bond in number of installments (they should pass 007 in 2020 or 2021). And the mix tape has to be a secret, man! At least until the full trailer! PETER’S MOM GAVE IT TO HIM! It’s special., COME ON!!!
