Domhnall Gleeson, son of brilliant actor Brendan Gleeson, is only in his mid-30s, but he’s already put together an impressive resume. Breaking out in 2015 when he starred in The Revenant, Ex Machina, AND Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the actor has become one of the my favorite additions to any ensemble. He’s also completely capable of playing the leading man, as he did in About Time and Good-bye Christopher Robin. It’s not enough that he’s a part of Star Wars, Gleeson is also a member of the Wizarding World, appearing in the final two Harry Potter films as the most ginger-friendly family in fiction: The Weasleys. Incredibly versatile and as hard-working as his dad, Gleeson’s future looks very bright.

My Favorite Gleeson Scene:
“The Family Secret” from About Time (2013)
Next Film: Domhnall will next team with director Lenny Abramson in The Little Stranger due out in August. Assuming Hux survives the leadership of Supreme Leader Ren, Gleeson will most likely be back For Star Wars Episode IX in 2019, but as fast as he picks up projects, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him several times before then.
Love him!

Great list, but I’m surprised you omitted Frank. It’d be #3 for me. A fantastic film about mental illness and creativity.

An absolutely wonderful actor. And, your favourite scene…it is just wonderful. In fact, About Time is simply delightful.

I had forgotten that he was in Harry Potter, but I was really engrossed in his Ex Machina film

Great list. Although you did leave out his role as A.A. Milne in Goodbye Christopher Robin. He was pretty good in that movie.

Last one cut. Tough call. He’s done so much good stuff already!

Good, solid actor. And I haven’t really seen him in a horrible clunker. Maybe he’s been in bad movies, I’m just not aware of them. He seems to make good choices.
I am very disappointed by the way Hux has panned out. Right now the villains are so ridiculous I could care less about the conflict. Han died for the sake of Kylo Ren’s character development. I assumed Ren would have a meaningful arc that would drive the trilogy. Instead, Serpentor. “This I command.” And when Hux got KO’d by Ren late in the film he became a lesser joke, a joke punched out by a joke who outranked him. I need a drink.

Love that he’s related to ‘Mad-eye’ 😀 … I first saw him in Dredd (the good one) and then in Ex Machina, and was impressed enough to keep an eye out for him ever since.
