Just How Big Are the Sentinels in X-Men Days of Future Past?

DOFP_banner_625

Bryan Singer, who has been Tweeting pictures from the set of X-Men Days of Future Past with the enthusiasm of a spectator, today gave people an idea of the scale of sentinels we’ll see in the film.  They’re not the Pacific Rim-sized sentinels in the comics, but I don’t know that would work in a movie as well as something Transformer-sized.  I think the designs look great.

Coming to theaters on May 23, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.

X-Men Days of Future Past Timeline from Bryan Singer

DOFP_banner_625

X-Men: Days of Future Past will combine both the cast of the original X-Men films and X-Men: First Class, but where everything lines up on the franchise’s timeline has remained somewhat hazy.  Director Bryan Singer, in an interview with Empire Magazine, shed some light on the chronology.

“It takes place about ten years, give or take, after X-Men 3; and in the past it takes place about ten years after First Class.  I’d say it’s not a sequel to one of the others. It’s an inbetwequel — that’s what I call it, for lack of a better word.”

“It takes place in the future and the past and then all over the world, from Russia to China, then France, and Washington, New York.  It’s got scope, but most of the scope is in the breadth of the story.”

Setting the stage for where the film will begin: “Charles is in a very dark hole when we meet him, and Erik has been gathering his power.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.  The film opens on May 23, 2014.

DOFP_banner_625

The viral marketing for X-Men Days of Future Past which began at Comic Con, continues with a promo video for Trask Industries hitting the net.  Trask Industries, headed by Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage), is the company that develops and manufactures mutant killing Sentinels.  Briefly seen in X3, we’re going to get a whole lot of Sentinels come next summer when X-Men Days of Future Past hits theaters.

X-Men Days of Future Plot and Havok Will Return *SPOILERS – SLIGHT*

Peter Dinklage, X-Men Days of Future Past

Vulture scored a new summary of the plot of X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as confirmed that Peter Dinklage HAS been cast as Bolivar Trask (creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinels) and Josh Helman will be playing a younger version of William Stryker (whom Brian Cox played so well in X2).  This comes on the heels of Bryan Singer confirming that Lucas Till will be returning from X-Men: First Class as Havok.  Vulture’s plot summary:

“Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.”

Whahuh?  This hurts my mind.  I’m also still kind of freaked out by how many mutants are in this cast.  How can you do justice to this many characters?  There are over 20 confirmed!  Bryan Singer’s got a juggling act on his hands.  We’ll see the results when X-Men: Days of Future Past opens next summer.
