August has just begun, but with the release of Elysium next Friday, the summer movie season is essentially over. While there were some pleasant surprises, there were far more disappointments and I’m still waiting for a 2013 film to blow me away. Fall is when last year’s movies began a ridiculous run of excellence, with something fantastic hitting the cinema nearly every Friday. While I don’t think we’ll get quite that lucky this time, here are the five films I’m most anticipating in September, October and November.
1. Thor The Dark World (11/8/13)
2. Ender’s Game (11/1/13)
I DO NOT OWN, NOR AM IN ANY WAY IMPLYING OWNERSHIP OF ENDER’S GAME, ITS PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL, THE MOVIE, THE BOOK, THE T-SHIRT, THE COFFEE MUG or Orson Scott Card‘s opinions. I AM MERELY PASSING ALONG INFORMATION ON THE ADAPTATION OF AN AMAZING BOOK THAT I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO ASSOCIATE MENTALLY WITH LAWYERLY EMAILS. -The Management. 4. Captain Phillips (10/11/13)
5. Hunger Games Catching Fire (11/23/13)
