Trailer Time: Godzilla Trailer #1 (2014) and Poster

He’s back.  Remember all the hype leading up to the 1990’s Godzilla? That actually had a fantastic teaser in which a giant Godzilla foot just came crashing through the ceiling of a museum and smashed the skeleton of a T-Rex.  Then the movie happened and if you watch it as a comedy…it’s fantastically successful.  I have no personal investment in Godzilla, but my wife has a morbid fascination with him dating back to a childhood spent watching him pound giant evil moths or robot versions of himself.  I realize I’m making that sound trivial and you could easily do that with any of my things so I’m going to back off before I have some withering retorts to look forward to tonight.

This particular Godzilla remake stars Aaron Taylor Johnson (Kick Ass) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and is helmed by Gareth Edwards.  Elizabeth Olsen is also in the cast so we could really call this Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch vs. Godzilla.  I would be more stoked about that movie.  Godzilla thunders into multiplexes on July 20, 2014.

      1. Everyone was fascinated by the trailer at first. People were whispering, “what is this?” Everyone seemed to be on board until Godzilla made his appearance, and then the whole thing deflated. There was also some laughter at the trailer for Divergent. And after the trailer for Interstellar, a woman said, “I’m in line already,” and that brought down the house. I hope that Nolan and Company know what they are doing… I hope that they have a movie with a fascinating premise on their hands… because the trailer was the most cryptic thing I have ever seen, and not in a good way.
