Movie Review: Saving Mr. Banks (2013)

Mary Poppins was never really a favorite film of mine growing up.  I saw it.  I thought it was nice, but it wasn’t a childhood favorite and I don’t have a connection to it in that way.  I was terribly intrigued by the premise, though, of Saving Mr. Banks: the 20 year ordeal Walt Disney went through in order to get Poppins’ author-P.L. Travers-to grant him the rights to the film and allow him to fulfill a promise he had made to his daughters to make the movie.  Having just left it, I think I liked Saving Mr. Banks and the story of the “why” of Mary Poppins more than the film itself.
