Transformers Age of Extinction

Awesome Poster of Optimus Prime from Transformers 4

OK, sigh, this looks awesome.  The trailer was great and now this just looks so supremely cool I made it my wallpaper.  The theme of the trailer is a very different relationship now exists between Transformers and humans.  The third film pretty much leveled Chicago and there are billboards in the trailer “Remember Chicago”; “Transformers are Dangerous” with an 800 number to call if you spot one.  The second poster was in the trailer and is part of the film’s viral marketing at http://www.transformersaredangerous.com.  Drink in the coolness and don’t think it will translate on screen.  This is the man who gave Devastator a giant robot scrotum.  He’s the same guy.

  1. Sometimes I think they should retcon the first three movies. Turns out they were just John Turtorro, having a nightmare that he was in those movies. Then I remember that Orson Welles’s last screen role was the voice of the planet-eating robot in the old Transformers animated film, and I don’t know whether it makes me feel better or worse.
Sigh is right. I was prepared to stand my ground… I was prepared to fight the urge to see this new movie, tooth and nail… but after all the cool stuff that’s already been released, I’m going to have to see it now. While the problems of the earlier films run deeper than the acting or the tone, better acting and a more serious tone can’t help but be a good thing. And now that I have decided to see this, I can’t in good conscience criticize it, so this will be my last word on the Transformers movies until it’s released. If it’s close to a genuine reboot, perhaps I will finally see something close to my childhood daydreams. I continue to eke out niches of hope in the most unlikely places.
