Killing Time – May 1, 2014

killing time

Time, the cradle of hope…. Wisdom walks before it, opportunity with it, and repentance behind it: he that has made it his friend will have little to fear from his enemies, but he that has made it his enemy will have little to hope from his friends.
~Charles Caleb Colton

I don’t know about you, but when I think about the fact that there is a cast, sitting in a room, reading the script for the next Star Wars movie, I get goose bumps.  I’m so glad JJ Abrams is directing this, because we’ll know NOTHING he doesn’t want us to.  He seems to have this magical power to stymie modern technology and the curiosity of millions of rabid fans just by sheer force of his spectacles.  It’s sad to say good-bye to the EU, but that wipes the slate clean for SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! R.I.P. Actor Bob Hoskins Has Died (1942 – 2014)

Bob HoskinsA rough year for celebrity deaths continues as we say good-bye to Bob Hoskins.  The Oscar-nominated actor had retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and passed from complications from pneumonia yesterday evening.  A consummate career actor, Hoskins is probably best known for playing detective Eddie Valiant in 1988’s Who Framed Roger Rabbit?    He was nominated for an Oscar in 1986 for Mona Lisa.  His last screen role was in 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman.  He always seemed to me to be a blue-collar guy in a white-collar industry, and he always brought something special to any movie he was in.  Hoskins was 71.  You can read CNN’s full obituary below.
