Star-Wars-Episode-VII-Slider

The talented artists across the Interwebs are honing in on the new lightsaber in their fan art (we really need to settle on a name for that thing).  One of my absolute favorite artists Phil Noto has a piece and we have three others from talented artists.  I’m sure the weeks to come will bring only more.  How is it going to work waiting a year for this??? 30 HD Star Wars Episode VII Trailer Stills

Star-Wars-Episode-VII-Slider

Ok, be honest.  How many times have you watched the extremely short teaser trailer for Star Wars Episode VII by this point?  It goes by so quick, it’s almost impossible to appreciate some things that these high quality stills capture.  The shot of the squadron of X-Wings buzzing the water was spectacular!  Also, going through it…just a few thoughts.
* Both the Rebellion/Republic and the Empire still exist.  Whether they have been at continuous war for 40 years or not, who knows what the balance of power is.  But we’ve still got Sith and Stormtroopers and Oscar Isaac’s X-Wing squadron is sporting the Republic logo.
* We’ve heard that Luke is missing and/or that he’s not restarted the Jedi Order.  Perhaps there’s been an almost stalemate between the two sides for 40 years and this represents the beginning of a shift one way or the other.
* I have no clue what Daisy Ridley is driving but I love the design.
* Chewie has kept the Falcon VERY well-maintained.

What thoughts spring to mind for you looking through these stills?  We probably won’t get another trailer til summer!  AAAARGH! Continue reading 30 HD Star Wars Episode VII Trailer Stills

Trailer Time: STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS (2015)

After all the waiting, after all the rumors……IT IS HERE!  This is a very brief teaser for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens that JJ Abrams has left us as a turkey present.  We’ll have plenty of time to go over it frame by frame and speculate and analyze.  For right now, push play and watch the first new footage from a Star Wars movie in nine years.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Trailer Time: Jurassic World Trailer #1 (2015)

It somehow got to be a family tradition in our house that on Thanksgiving on NBC we’d watch Jurassic Park.  Owned it on four separate home media formats….watched it on TV with commercials.  It is in the spirit of that extremely odd family tradition that I bring you your first look at the fourth entry in the series.  I really, really want this to take me back to when I was 14 and that T-Rex just blew my mind.  Regardless, the film stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson and will open in theaters on June 12, 2015.   Happy Thanksgiving to all time killers, everywhere!

Movie Review: The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part One (2014) *Spoilers*

Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games
I have avoided writing this review for three days now because I just don’t want to do it.  By marking a delay though, I did note something to add.  In addition to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One being a bad movie, it’s also an utterly forgettable one.  The transparent cash grab of splitting the final book in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy into two films has butchered the film trilogy.
