Complete List of Achievements/Trophies for Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (2015 – Playstation, Xbox)

My mother and sister recently took a trip to Europe, and it was as I was going through their pictures it occurred to me…..I have assassinated people off of a lot of the European continent.  They’d start telling me about the Duomo and I’d remark how I’d plunged a hidden dagger from several hundred feet into the skull of an evil Templar just off that very structure!  None of this has anything to do with this year’s installment of Ubisoft’s most successful franchise, but it explains the sentence: “I’m looking forward to killing people off of famous buildings in London this year” without the NSA flagging it.

This year’s installment is in Victorian England, which gives a wealth of history to weave into what is becoming an extremely dense overarching plot.  I’ll confess that I’m still working my way through Paris in last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity, but it’s only a matter of time before I join the brotherhood in England. ACS is only available for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC and will release on October 23, 2015.  For all your achievement needs read below and visit the superb xboxachievements.com. My Favorite Scene: Black Hawk Down (2001) “We Have a Black Hawk Down”

Time Killers will know that I’ve been psyched/scared about Ridley Scott adapting The Martian (opening Friday) for months.  The Martian is one of the best books I’ve read in recent years, and I’ve been fairly vocal that I think Ridley has lost it.  I’m thrilled by the advance reviews, though and I can’t wait to see it.  When he’s on, Ridley is on par with any director in Hollywood.  Most people consider his best film to be Alien, and I might agree, but you could make a strong argument for 2001’s Black Hawk Down.
Black Hawk Down

If you’ve never read Mark Bowden’s harrowing account of a mission to take out a warlord in Sudan gone horribly wrong, I could not recommend it more.  Ridley perfectly captured the claustrophobic charnel house that Mogadishu turned into for these soldiers.  The cast is stellar, the cinematography is the best in any Scott film and why it was overlooked for more critical acclaim is a complete mystery to me.  This is a perfect film, and one of the best war movies ever made.  If Scott can bring this sort of game to The Martian, man, we’re in for a treat.

Complete Achievement/Trophy List for Guitar Hero Live! (Xbox, Playstation – 2015)

After a five year detente, the music games wars are back.  Rock Band 4 is only a week away and following closely on its heels on October 20th will be Guitar Hero Live!  Personally, I think Rock Band is superior, and with your old DLC and instruments available for play in RB4 but not in GHL, Guitar Hero better be bringing some serious gameplay to make up the gap.  For all your cheevo needs and for further information, check out the peerless xboxachievements.com. How Long Was Bill Murray Trapped in Groundhog Day?

Whatculture.com has done a phenomenal amount of research and come up with the answer to something that I’ve always wondered about one of my favorite films: 1993’s Groundhog Dav.  The film, featuring Bill Murray as Pittsburgh weatherman Phil Connors, has him trapped in Punxsatawney, PA, waking up over and over and over again, reliving Groundhog Day.  Over the course of his purgatory, Phil comes to know every single person in the town, masters some pretty difficult skills, learns several languages and kills himself about 20 times.  None of it works.  He wakes up every day, February 2nd, and it all starts over again.  Bless you, Whatculture, for doing the math.  If this is one of your favorite films, you have GOT to watch this.

Complete Achievement/Trophy List for Rise of the Tomb Raider (Xbox, Playstation – 2015) PLUS NEW TRAILER

I can count on one hand the number of games I’ve played all the way through twice just because they were that much fun.  Crystal Dynamic’s reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise’s only flaw was a horned-in multi-player component that had no place being in the game.  Not every game needs multi-player, something I’m glad to see fixed this time.  Lara went through a lot in the first game and there’s a lot of really cool character development going on with her as in this game we get back to basics: the tombs.  I’ll be there when Rise of the Tomb Raider releases in November 2015.  For all your achievement needs, check out the list below courtesy of xboxachievements.com.
