Star Wars Episode VII, BB-8

21 New Star Wars Episode VII Pictures (Mild Spoiler Warning) PLUS TV Spot #1

What would a day be without a little more whetting of the appetite for Star Wars Episode VII?  Here is the first official TV spot for the film as well as 21 new pictures from Entertainment Weekly.  To be overly cautious, I’m putting a mild spoiler warning as some may see a picture or two as revealing too much plot (I really don’t).  Disney continues to lock secrecy down, announcing today that it is withholding the film from awards screening.  It will still be eligible for Oscar consideration (should the Academy remember it nominated the crap out of the first film), but earlier awards like the SAG Awards, New York Film Critics, etc. won’t be shown the film.  I wonder if they’ll do advance reviews at all, and if so, when the first will show up?  Enjoy the TV spot and the photos and mark another day off on the countdown!

  1. I’m excited by Abrams’ comment about this movie being a self contained story. Obviously Star Wars is the original franchise, the franchise to end all franchises, and this film’s purpose is to kick things off anew. But it sounds like they’re just concentrating on this one for now, trying to make it the sturdiest foundation they possibly can. No one does that anymore.

What I’m hoping for with this movie (and it’s a big hope) is that it turns out to be the movie George Lucas would have made back in 1977, if he had had access to the almost unlimited resources JJ does.

    1. At the same time though, RIan Johnson has been meeting extensively with JJ Abrams (who is producing VIII) and they’re looking at making the transition seamleass too so to hear they’re collaborating is even more heartening. Hot damn, I’m excited about this!
