This weekend is the Star Wars: Fan Celebration in London, and currently ongoing is the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Panel. The full cast, along with director Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy is discussing new details about their characters and the plot of the first Star Wars spin-off. The film is based on a single line from the original film’s opening crawl that says the plans for the Death Star were stolen. Expanding that into a full film will be the job of December’s release. The full trailer is going to be out later today, but Edwards unveiled this Celebration reel with a ton of new footage. Also unveiled was the film’s official poster (see below) and the name of the tropical planet seen in the trailer and poster: Scariff. Stay tuned for more Rogue One footage later today, and Star Wars developments all weekend. Rogue One opens December 16, 2016.
I’m feeling a level of excitement I haven’t felt since TPM. It’s more than what I felt leading up to TFA, because my excitement for that movie was tempered by a fair amount of nervousness. I have no doubts anymore.
