Complete Achievement/Trophy List for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Xbox, Playstation – 2016)

Call of Duty is here with its annual installment of token campaigning  followed by multiplayer that will swallow your life.  I actually have to say that I have lost all interest in Call of Duty as it goes further and further into a science fiction future.  The pinnacle of the series, ironically, is getting a remastered packaging with CoD:IW.  When Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released, it changed the shooter genre forever.  Yes, it had amazing multiplayer, but it also had a killer campaign and was rooted in the military of today.  This entire genre started back with Medal of Honor, and it’s been at its best when it has put players in historic/current military situations.  I’m playing Battlefield 1 right now, and it’s astoundingly good.  I’m sure CoD is well-made, but if I want a science fiction shooter, Titanfall 2 looks amazing and Gears of War 4 is the best entry in the series since the second game.  This will sell 10 million copies, and that’s great, but I really have completely lost interest in the franchise (sigh, yes, there are zombies again too). I know that a ton of people are waiting for the midnight launch, and I hope you have a blast.  Cheevos below, as always, courtesy of the good folks at xboxachievements.com. Movie Review: Dark Horse (2016) *The Welsh Miracle*

Dark Horse, Dream Alliance

Nothing too long here, just a quick review, for a short movie that I’m sure most people will miss.  Dark Horse isn’t the greatest documentary I’ve ever seen, but I don’t normally even watch documentaries so that alone should recommend the movie.  Americans love underdogs.  We are underdogs. In a relatively young nation, our national mythology is the underdog.  It plays into our beliefs, our political system (as it SHOULD work), our work ethic, and-though shaken-our ability to dream.  Our national opinion is that anything should be possible.  I know it hasn’t felt like that in a while.  But for a big nation, we’ve always liked the little guy.  We’ve always believed in long shots, and in the world of horse racing, Dream Alliance makes Seabiscuit look like a thoroughbred. Complete Achievement List for Titanfall 2 (Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC – 2016)

The first Titanfall was one of the original blockbusters for Xbox One, and while it was a lot of fun, it soon became kind of repetitive.  It was great fun calling down your titan from orbit and squashing your enemies before hopping in and becoming a mech to be reckoned with, but the game only had multiplayer which seemed to be trying to squeeze some kind of story into the never-ending Team Deathmatch  square-offs, but it felt like there was a lot more that could be done with the property.  Well, all props to EA and Respawn Entertainment.  Titanfall 2 is getting rave reviews for expanded multiplayer and a campaign that looks interesting enough that once I crawl out from under the deluge of games in my “to beat” queue, I will definitely be climbing back aboard for another go-round.  Titanfall 2 is out today for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.  Achievements below courtesy of the only site you ever need to bother with for your achievement fix: xboxaachievements.com. Complete Achievement/Trophy List for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (Xbox, Playstation – 2016)

Most non-cinematic media releases on Tuesdays (including video games), but this Friday we have two blockbuster games coming out in Titanfall 2 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.  To say that Skyrim is a massive game would be a hysterical understatement.  My first playthrough, I dumped well over 150 hours into the game and hadn’t even scratched the surface.  It rivals Fallout 3, in my mind, as Bethesda’s best game, (which is saying a lot) so I’m really looking forward to revisiting it with upgraded visuals, all the DLC released for the game, and-for the first time for console gamers-the opportunity to add even MORE content for the game by adding user-created mods to Skyrim.  These can range from new weapons to massive quests worthy of those included in the original game.  The strategy guide is longer than War & Peace and hefty enough to double as free weights (seriously, it’s over 1100 pages long).  Check out the upgraded graphics in the trailer above and the full list of cheevos below, courtesy of the peerless xboxachievements.com. In Theaters This Week (10/28/2016) – Inferno, Before the Flood

Before the Flood, Leonardo DiCaprio

Each Thursday we look at what is going to be coming out in theaters this weekend, show you the trailers for the big releases, predict the box office winner and just generally give you enough of a carrot to pull you through the rest of the work week.  October 28th closes out the most mediocre October that I can ever remember with a weekend Tom Hanks can’t even save.
