Remastering the previous generation’s games for replay in the current console cycle is something that only a few titles warrant, but undoubtedly the first two installments of Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham franchise deserve the upgrade and revisit. Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City (a trilogy finished by the current gen’s Batman Arkham Knight last year) revolutionized the expectations for a super hero game. These games create an entire side universe for Batman. Each character given a new look consistent to the tone and tenor of Arkham’s world. Each game succeeds wholly as a video game experience, and as a Batman story. Return to Arkham has all the DLC and content for the first two games in one package with upgraded graphics (graphics that caused a six month delay to get to the standard Rocksteady established). There feels like there’s still so many stories that could be told in this universe even if Rocksteady says they’re done, they left the ending of Arkham Knight wide open, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see us return to Arkham for another installment in the future. Really looking forward to getting the Return to Arkham Collection, loved these games so much on PS3, so will be great to enjoy them on PS4.

I still need to go back and do the remaining side missions for Arkham Knight. The boss battle with the Arkham Knight was one of the most grueling I’ve ever had, but I want to go back to it and get some extra achievements. This year’s games have been such a weak crop compared to last year’s, I find myself revisiting 2015’s to try to squeeze more life out of them. I’ll get the collection eventually, but I’m more interested in the remastered Skyrim coming out next week.

Yeah, I’ve enjoyed revisiting Arkham Knight again, its a good game, loads to do in it as well still. I agree, it had some really tough boss battles, and all those tanks! Urgh! That aside I still think the story was really good and very exciting. Graphics were great too. That’s why I’ve been revisiting some older games as not much has really interested me much this year – aside from Uncharted 4. I’m getting Reutnr to Arkham Collection, might get Skyrim as well, that was an awesome game as well!

Completely agree. The “Knightfall” ending to Arkham Knight seems to leave the door open for another company to to continue the series.

That would certainly seem to be the case, the ending is open ended, so anything is possible. I really like the Arkham Games, they are great fun to play.
