Moana is the 56th Disney animated film, and the latest from a studio that has seriously revived itself from near obsolescence at the hands of Pixar. It has the creative teams behind Aladdin and Hamilton behind it, and the first Pacific Islander princess (well, daughter of a chieftan). Does Moana stand in the company of Disney’s latest string of classics? No, but despite some serious flaws, it still manages to be kind of impossible to dislike. The Big Short is a quirky movie. It’s an adaptation of a true story, non-fiction financial book by Michael Lewis that is essentially four stories with minimal interaction. It’s about four groups that saw the American housing market for what it was (nearly picked the Jenga scene, but Jenga is a perfect visual metaphor for what it was): complete and utter bluster. These guys did something no one had ever done: they bet hard on the American economy crashing. They essentially shorted America, and walked away rich because they were smart and we were all stupid (and criminally mislead), so I don’t hold it against them at all. The scene that makes what is a wacky, funny, and dense movie work though, is this simple scene where Brad Pitt’s character loses it on the pair of young traders celebrating over what they’re doing. It’s business, and it’s fair, but he knows what it really means and he hammers them (and by extension us) with the consequences. UPDATE: The main page at justkillingti.me is back up and running thanks to the crack staff of sorcerers, wizards, mages, and a gerbil. Seriously, thank you to the man who makes the IT portion of the site work; he’s a true blessing.
If you’re reading this on WordPress, Facebook, or Twitter, congratulations! You can probably see it. The main site page is down at the moment and the Killing Time IT department has been summoned by the blowing of the ritual conch shell. Hopefully we’ll be fully operational soon.
After approximately 9,000 years of waiting, 25 different titles, and even more hyperbole, Final Fantasy XV is less than six hours from release in the United States. Final Fantasy X was the game that got me back into gaming after a several year hiatus, so I’m looking at the advance reviews, and feeling good about returning to a franchise that once WAS RPGs, and has become left behind as franchises like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, and The Witcher passed it by. Like all Final Fantasy games, it looks gorgeous (and the achievements seem human for once). The full list is below courtesy of the peerless xboxachievements.com. Final Fantasy XV will release at midnight.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I needed a break from staring at a computer screen, so apologize for the lack of posts, but in the upcoming week look for a special epic review of The Arrival, Moana, Hacksaw Ridge and The Edge of Seventeen. My Favorite Scene this week will look at The Big Short. There are some new trailers headed your way, achievement/ trophy guide for Final Fantasy XV (which releases Tuesday), and remember to vote in the “Favorite Harry Potter” movie poll. It will run until December 12th. The following poll will mirror what we did last year with Star Wars Episode VII. We’re going to have a community review poll, where you can rate your score from 1-10 after you view Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
