Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones in Just Getting Started

Just Getting Started Trailer #1 (2017) “Do You Men Hear Yourselves?” “Why….Should We?”

Just Getting Started is an action comedy in the vein of Midnight Run about an ex-FBI agent (Jones) and an ex-mob lawyer in the witness protection program (Freeman) having to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.

You can never dismiss a Morgan Freeman movie out-of-hand.  Paired with Tommy Lee Jones, this looks like it could be fun under the direction of Ron Shelton (Tin Cup, Bull Durham), Just Getting Started is scheduled for a December 8, 2017 release.

  1. Mmmm. Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, if they offer you enough money, of course you’re going to take it and do the movie, and not cling to your artistic integrity, because you’re a film actor, not Yoko Ono. And thank God for that. On the other hand, if you’ve been responsible with the money from your successful career, and that’s a big if, why not go out on a high note? Because everything about this movie looks kind of sad to me, including the title. I’m not saying there should be no movies for older people, because I’ll be older before too long, and eating my words. But there shouldn’t be THIS kind of movie for older people. I want to remember Freeman as the voice of God. Not like this.

    1. I doubt this is going to be good, and Freeman does a lot of stuff that’s beneath him, but the man makes three or four films a year at 80 and that’s pretty impressive. I just wish he was getting better parts lately.
