The Maze Runner is, in my opinion, the best YA adaptation to come out of the glut of films spawned by the success of The Hunger Games. The sequel, The Scorch Trials, got less critical praise, but I really liked it too and thought it set things up well for the finale. Unfortunately that finale got delayed a year when an on-the-set accident severely injured series star Dylan O’Brien, but now we’re set for the final act. This is more of a teaser than a first trailer, but FOX can call it what it wants. Maze Runner: The Death Cure opens has been pushed back a few weeks from its original January opening and now will hit theaters February 9, 2018.
In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure was directed by franchise helmer Wes Ball and also features Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Barry Pepper, and even Will Poulter will be back for this final chapter of the trilogy.
Hopefully this movie ends the film franchise on a strong note and not on a weak one (like what Allegiant did for The Divergent Series)

Well, there are more books, but my understanding is this is it. Dylan O’Brien is becoming kind of a big deal, and the kids are noticeably older than they probably even should be due to the delay in filming because of O’Brien’s injury. But that extra year also should have given them extra time to make sure they stick the landing and give us the best YA adaptation series since Harry Potter.

I do hope that you are right

I think given the production difficulties on this with O’Brien’s near-death, I doubt he’s going to be eager to do more.

I’m really excited for this movie. I loved the books and really loved the first two movies, despite their mediocre critical reception. I just wrote a post about the movies I’m most excited for this year, and Death Cure is on it! https://theactdiary.wordpress.com/2018/01/12/10-movies-im-excited-to-see-this-year/

Katie, I LOVE these movies, and I think the first one was the best YA adaptation outside of the Potter series. I have not read the books only because I did not want to know what happened next, and I didn’t anticipate having to wait an extra year to see the final installment in the films. I will then go to the books, but definitely in January THIS is the movie I’m most looking forward to seeing.
