Battle of the Sexes Trailer #1 (2017) “Game On!”

*Text from Coming Soon
Fox Searchlight Pictures has revealed a new international trailer for Battle of the Sexes, telling the story of the infamous tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell, the electrifying 1973 tennis match between World number one Billie Jean King (Stone) and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs (Carell) was billed as the Battle of the Sexes and became the most watched televised sports event of all time. The match caught the zeitgeist and sparked a global conversation on gender equality, spurring on the feminist movement. Trapped in the media glare, King and Riggs were on opposites sides of a binary argument, but off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. With a supportive husband urging her to fight the Establishment for equal pay, the fiercely private King was also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, while Riggs gambled his legacy and reputation in a bid to relive the glories of his past. Together, Billie and Bobby served up a cultural spectacle that resonated far beyond the tennis courts and animated the discussions between men and women in bedrooms and boardrooms around the world.

Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, creators of the Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine and indie favorite Ruby Sparks, the film also stars Elisabeth Shue, Sarah Silverman, Alan Cumming, Andrea Riseborough , Eric Christian Olsen, Natalie Morales, Austin Stowell, Wallace Langham, Jessica McNamee, Mickey Sumner  and Bill Pullman.

Battle of the Sexes will debut in theaters September 22.

My Favorite Scene: X-Men 2 (2003) “Nightcrawler Crashes The White House”

Until The Dark Knight, X-Men 2 was the gold standard for comic book movies.  It remains my favorite of the series, and though there are tons of great moments, I love it when a film opens with something jaw-dropping.  X-Men 2 opened with a mind-controlled Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming) storming The White House, teleporting, BAMFING, and fulfilling every X-fan’s dream to see the fuzzy elf realized in the comics.

Nightcrawler is one of my favorite X-Men, so it was great to see him, but it wasn’t just his appearance.  No one had choreographed a fight for a teleporter before.  His fighting style utilizing his teleportation and his tail is so unique that you were sucked into the movie in the little over two minutes it took Kurt to breach The Oval Office.  Unfortunately, Alan Cumming had a miserable experience working on X2 and never returned, clashing with Brian Singer and chafing at the elaborate make-up necessary for the character.  A younger Kurt Wagner will make his debut in X-Men: Apocalypse played by Kodi Smit-McPhee.  He’s got some large, oddly shaped shoes to fill.  For more of Alan Cumming, check out The Good Wife on CBS (just finishing its seven-year run).  His character is reason enough to binge watch the drama.

X-Men Days of Future Plot and Havok Will Return *SPOILERS – SLIGHT*

Peter Dinklage, X-Men Days of Future Past

Vulture scored a new summary of the plot of X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as confirmed that Peter Dinklage HAS been cast as Bolivar Trask (creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinels) and Josh Helman will be playing a younger version of William Stryker (whom Brian Cox played so well in X2).  This comes on the heels of Bryan Singer confirming that Lucas Till will be returning from X-Men: First Class as Havok.  Vulture’s plot summary:

“Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.”

Whahuh?  This hurts my mind.  I’m also still kind of freaked out by how many mutants are in this cast.  How can you do justice to this many characters?  There are over 20 confirmed!  Bryan Singer’s got a juggling act on his hands.  We’ll see the results when X-Men: Days of Future Past opens next summer.

Fan-girl.org got some more on-the-set photos from  X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Magneto and Beast tussling in a fountain.  Unless Magneto is somehow depowered, this fight should last about two seconds.  And I know I keep bringing it up but, WHERE IS THE RED COSTUME!  I honestly don’t care if it doesn’t fit in the film, I just want it hovering in the background.  I’ll have to photoshop it in or something… X-Men: Days of Future Past will release in July 2014.  Synopsis below:

The film will be based on the comic book storyline “Days of Future Past,” which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

Tweeting addict and X-Men Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is turning to be the best source for inside information on his own movie.  Every few days, he’ll Tweet out a new pic from the set.  Here we see Magneto the Younger ready to twist something metallic.  My question is: are we going to get the frigging amazing Magneto suit from the end of X-Men First Class?  Thus far, all the photos have had the merry mutants in street clothes.  Ah well, I’m sure Singer will Tweet something on that between now and when X-Men: Days of Future Past releases in July 2014.  Synopsis below:
