Michael Keaton’s 10 Best Movies

Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and has enjoyed a career renaissance thirty years later.  With a stellar resume of both comedic and dramatic roles, Keaton has laid down landmark performances in both the DC (Batman) and Marvel (Vulture) film universes, and his only Oscar nomination came in 2015 from playing a washed-up super hero actor in 2014’s Birdman.  He’s been an anchor voice in two Pixar films: Cars and Toy Story 3, and was Tim Burton’s go-to actor before Burton and Johnny Depp mutually ruined each other’s careers.  Keaton will be reuniting with Burton for the director’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo for Disney.  With dramatic roles in films like The Founder and Spotlight, it would be great if someone could find a showcase for his comedic skills, because Keaton’s timing is a thing of beauty.  At any rate, it’s fantastic that Michael Keaton is a big star again.  Movies are better for it.

Tim Burton’s Latest 10 Movies vs. Greatest 10 Movies

Tim Burton
Latest vs. Greatest looks at directors, actors, actresses, screenwriters and composers to assess the state of their career as it stands.  We’ll look back at the latest 10 movies the artist has done, rate them and then average them out to see where they stand today.  We’ll also rank their 10 greatest movies and give them the same treatment to compare what they have been doing to their very best work.  (A quick side-note: if an artist is/has been a regular on a TV show we’ll also grade the seasons individually; artists need 10 projects to qualify).

It’s not hard to imagine that TIm Burton got his start as an animator when you consider the characters and design world of his film resume.  It is hard to picture him as an animator working for Disney trying to work in the “Disney-style”.  That didn’t last too long (to everyone’s benefit, I think) and Burton began making films instead of drawing them.  He began his career with a series of shorts (the most famous of which being the live-action Frankenweenie he would one day revisit as an animated feature) before making his feature film debut with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure in 1985. Fantastic Tim Burton Character Tribute Art

This is some must-see work on the part of Marie Bergeron created for Hero Complex’s Young Guns Art Show.  Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks and The Nightmare Before Christmas.  Early Burton before he and Johnny Depp became evil mind twins.  I must confess that NBC should be on my top 25 movies and I neglected to recall it in time for the posting.  Jack Skellington is one of my favorite movie characters of all-time.  There may or may not be a giant Jack skull on the back of my sensible family car.  I’m just saying…..
