X-Men Days of Future Plot and Havok Will Return *SPOILERS – SLIGHT*

Peter Dinklage, X-Men Days of Future Past

Vulture scored a new summary of the plot of X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as confirmed that Peter Dinklage HAS been cast as Bolivar Trask (creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinels) and Josh Helman will be playing a younger version of William Stryker (whom Brian Cox played so well in X2).  This comes on the heels of Bryan Singer confirming that Lucas Till will be returning from X-Men: First Class as Havok.  Vulture’s plot summary:

“Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.”

Whahuh?  This hurts my mind.  I’m also still kind of freaked out by how many mutants are in this cast.  How can you do justice to this many characters?  There are over 20 confirmed!  Bryan Singer’s got a juggling act on his hands.  We’ll see the results when X-Men: Days of Future Past opens next summer.

Fan-girl.org got some more on-the-set photos from  X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Magneto and Beast tussling in a fountain.  Unless Magneto is somehow depowered, this fight should last about two seconds.  And I know I keep bringing it up but, WHERE IS THE RED COSTUME!  I honestly don’t care if it doesn’t fit in the film, I just want it hovering in the background.  I’ll have to photoshop it in or something… X-Men: Days of Future Past will release in July 2014.  Synopsis below:

The film will be based on the comic book storyline “Days of Future Past,” which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

Tweeting addict and X-Men Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is turning to be the best source for inside information on his own movie.  Every few days, he’ll Tweet out a new pic from the set.  Here we see Magneto the Younger ready to twist something metallic.  My question is: are we going to get the frigging amazing Magneto suit from the end of X-Men First Class?  Thus far, all the photos have had the merry mutants in street clothes.  Ah well, I’m sure Singer will Tweet something on that between now and when X-Men: Days of Future Past releases in July 2014.  Synopsis below:

More stills and behind-the-scenes photos either Tweeted by Bryan Singer or fans.  Magneto and Professor X are certainly embracing the 70’s wardrobe.  The have never looked quite so groovy.  I’m fairly certain the shot with Fassbender is an off-camera shot because A) Xavier is walking and B) The two of them aren’t attempting to kill each other.  There’s also a few behind-the-scenes shots of Jennifer Lawrence in Mystique gear.  The Vietnam War is clearly being interwoven into the film’s plot at least in atmosphere given the protesters, and Bryan Singer Tweeted the last photo of Nixon in the Oval Office yesterday saying it was one of the most pivotal moments of the film.  X-Men: Days of Future Past will release in July 2014.  Synopsis below:

Peter Dinklage Playing Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Director Bryan Singer is turning into quite the mad Tweeter on the set of X-Men Days of Future Past.  These two images of Peter Dinklage, followed closely by this shot of a Trask Industries jumpsuit, now have most thinking that Dinklage’s “mystery role” is that of Bolivar Trask.  Trask is responsible for creating the mutant hunting machines, Sentinels, that feature extremely prominently in the comic arc of Future Past.  I think it’s fantastic casting and there’s something mythic about this man of small stature building these colossus.  So if we take this logic forward, we now have in this film (which could be ten hours long): Sentinels, Bolivar Trask, Mystique, Old/Young Professor X, Old/Young Magneto, Beast, Wolverine, Shadowcat, Quicksilver, Rogue, Storm, Colossus, Warpath, Iceman, Blink, Bishop and Sunspot.  That’s aside from the rumors floating around that we’ll see Cyclops and Jean Grey as well.  I love Bryan Singer, but this ensemble is just getting a little bit unwieldy.  I’m also a bit curious as to where they would take the franchise from here because the only members of the First Class ensemble returning that didn’t go over to Magneto’s side are Professor X and Beast.  Most of the cast is comprised of the returnees and the old gang.  If you’re trying to grow the franchise for the future, you need to consider this will be Hugh Jackman’s seventh film as Wolverine.  X-Men: Days of Future Past will release in July 2014.  Synopsis below:
