The Snowman Trailer #1 (2017) “The Iceman Cometh”

Boasting an impressive cast, and adapted from the best-selling novel by Jo Nesbo, The Snowman…doesn’t seem immediately to have anything to distinguish it from the run-of-the-mill horror film.  However, when you have Fassbender, JK Simmons, Val Kilmer, Rebecca Ferguson, and others involved, there’s always the possibility….oh hey, remember the Michael Keaton movie where he’s a crap dad, dies, and comes back as a reincarnated snowman?  This, I say with confidence, is already a leg up on that.  The Snowman hits theaters in October.

Movie Review: Independence Day – Resurgence (2016) *I Was Rooting for the Aliens*

Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, Independence Day: Resurgence

Though the world of Independence Day has been waiting 20 years for the aliens to return; moviegoers have not.  Things are very, very different from the cinematic world of 1996.  Returning to this universe would have required doing what the original did: showing us F/X we simply had not seen before on that scale, while charming us with the human-level performances.  Did Independence Day: Resurgence achieve that?  Let’s just say you have no idea how much charisma Will Smith has until he goes from being the breakout star of your film to a portrait on the White House wall. Trailer Time: Independence Day – Resurgence Trailer #3 (2016) *Well That Trailer Was Even Bigger….Than The Last TWO!*

The first two trailers weren’t big enough.  Today a FIVE MINUTE trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence has been unveiled.  The first film hasn’t aged terribly well, but I have to say, this will at least LOOK spectacular.  I do love that Roland Emmerich is so aware of his penchant for squashing landmarks that he worked it into the script,  ID42 will open on June 24, 2016. Plot synopsis below.

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Trailer Time: Independence Day – Resurgence Trailer #2 (2016) *Well That Trailer Was Even Bigger….Than The First One*

This has been a huge week for summer blockbuster trailers, and Independence Day: Resurgence gets into the act with its second trailer.  Will Roland Emmerich leave any monument on Earth standing?  The man lives to destroy iconic architecture.  This trailer forms more of a link between the first and second films (btw how is Brent Spiner’s character still alive?) and Will Smith even gets a cameo….as a dead man in a photo, but he made the trailer!  ID42 will open on June 24, 2016. Plot synopsis below.

Trailer Time: Independence Day – Resurgence (2016) *They’re Baaaaack!*

The first teaser trailer for Independence Day is one of the best teasers of all time.  It’s a 34-second clip of the White House being turned into splinters by an alien warship.  That’s it.  People went bug-wild and the clip has since been a very therapeutic bit of catharsis depending on who was in the Oval Office at the time.  TWENTY YEARS AFTER INDEPENDENCE DAY (pause to feel old), we are getting a Will Smith-less sequel to the blockbuster.  The first trailer is out for Independence Day: Resurgence, and while it’s no exploding White House, there is enough classic Jeff Goldblum to get me back in the theater.  ID42 will open on June 24, 2016.
