My Favorite Scene: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2015) “Bruce in the Battle of Metropolis”

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s theatrical cut is a mess.  It doesn’t even make coherent sense.  The R-Rated cut does make sense, and improves the film, but doesn’t fix the underlying problem that Warner Brothers put too much into a film that only needed Batman and Superman.  They begin it beautifully.  They pull an absolute masterstroke by taking one of the biggest criticisms of Man of Steel (the mass collateral damage during the film’s climactic battle between Superman and Zod), and placing Bruce Wayne right in the middle of it.  He watches as the fight between the Kryptonians claims the Metropolis branch of Wayne Enterprises and holds a new orphan in his arms as he balefully glares up at what caused all of it.  THAT WAS ALL THEY NEEDED. Movie Review: Batman vs. Superman – Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition (2016) *Does 30 More Minutes Make it Good?*

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman, Superman, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill
In a year that’s given us a lot of great films already, there have been a few disappointments, but none more so than Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.  The first pairing of the biggest characters in comics was a befuddling, out-of-character, mess with plot holes you could throw Doomsday through.  It’s an unfortunate start to the DCEU.  I’m an optimist about the recent reshuffling in the creative powers that be, and that Warner Brothers appointed Geoff Johns to run the DCEU as Kevin Feige does the MCU is an encouraging sign.  When it was announced, that there would be an R-Rated version of the bloated BvS that would add 30 minutes onto it’s running time (which is now 3 hours 2 minutes if you’re scoring at home), most assumed it was a cash grab to try to eke more money out of the film WB has dubbed a financial disappointment.  Before we go any further, spoiler warnings below. 65 Pictures from the Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice New Trailer (Trailer #3)!!!!

Doomsday, Michael Shannon, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice

For your frame-by-frame scrutiny, here are 65 stills from the third Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer.  There were some things about the trailer I really loved.  The conversation between  Bruce and Clark was a perfect capture of their divergent philosophies on super heroing.  I really have liked everything I’ve seen and heard from Affleck as Batman and I already love Cavil as Superman.  Wonder Woman had a heck of an entrance.  However, I’m not sold on Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and giving away Doomsday’s identity was way too big of a spoiler to stick in a trailer.  We’ll see how well all the chaos came together when Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 26, 2016. Trailer Time: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer #3 (2016) *I Just Have a Bad History With Freaks Dressed Like Clowns*

I guess Jimmy Kimmel Live has become the new battleground for super hero trailer wars.  A week after Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. delivered the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War, Ben Affleck dropped by with the third full trailer for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I hated the first trailer, I was very much encouraged by the second trailer and – while I have some concerns – the third trailer absolutely is the best.  It gives away too much plot is my only concern and confirms Doomsday and who Doomsday is.  But this whole fight looks like an orchestration of Lex Luthor playing on a natural dislike that each man has for each other.  It feels very true to their characters, and while I still have some concerns about the packed nature of the film, I’ll be there March 25th when it opens.Batman, Superman, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavil, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice

Trailer Time: Injustice Gods Among Us Launch Trailer

I wish I was good at fighting games.  Going back to Street Fighter II in the arcade, I just suck.  It’s not that I don’t like them.  I just don’t have coordination enough to whip out ultra super hyper combos.  This is especially a shame because Injustice Gods Among Us is a fighter right up my alley: comics.  Not only does the game boast a roster of DC’s best heroes and villains, they’ve come up with a really strong story to drive the action.  I’ve been reading the web comic that spins out of this alternate DC-verse and it’s a very dark, very Kingdom Come-esque apocalypse for the pantheon of icons.  The game has extremely interactive stages from familiar locales like the Batcave and the Fortress of Solitude.  I played the demo and Doomsday punched me THROUGH the Earth.  Capital “E” for the entire planet.  Check out the action when the game releases on April 16, 2013.
The confirmed roster so far:
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Cyborg, Ares, Bane, Black Adam, Catwoman, Hawkgirl, Harley Quinn, Joker, Deathstroke, Doomsday, Lex Luthor, Sinestro, Solomon Grundy, Killer Frost, Nightwing, Raven, and Shazam.
