Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom Blu Ray

Movie Review: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) *Close. The. Park.”

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the first film in the Jurassic series to try to break away from the franchise’s format.  All of the previous movies essentially consisted of dropping humans in a dinosaur environment.  The Lost World (or “Dinos eat San Diego”) played a little with this in the least entertaining part of the second film, and it is the film Fallen Kingdom resembles the most.  While I give it kudos for trying to do something different, there’s little else to laud in the latest summer sequel to underwhelm.  Fallen Kingdom is burdened with a truly awful script from Colin Trevorrow and serves as little more than a pothole infested bridge from Jurassic World to 2021’s Jurassic World 3.

Jeff Goldblum’s 10 Best Movies

Jeff Goldblum

Jeff Goldblum is an exceedingly unlikely movie star.  The man looks like a human goose and speaks in a cadence that suggests that he could be, at any time, doing slam poetry.  I have a fascination with Goldblum’s vocal stylings.  My grand movie idea (and we all have one) is to put him, Christopher Walken, and William Shatner in a car and simply film whatever happens.  It would be human jazz.  Goldblum first appeared as “Unnamed Freak #1” in 1972’s Death Wish.  As his career incredibly nears half a century you have to seriously admire what sheer nebbishness has accomplished onscreen.  Goldblum has to be paired with the right role because, let’s be honest, we’re pretty much always watching JEFF GOLDBLUM IN (insert name of movie).  But…if you have a quirky character who needs an actor who brings that in bushels, Jeff Goldblum can be the paprika in your casting stew.   Continue reading Jeff Goldblum’s 10 Best Movies

Each Thursday we look at what is going to be coming out in theaters this weekend, show you the trailers for the big releases, predict the box office winner and just generally give you enough of a carrot to pull you through the rest of the work week.  This week sees the return of dinos to the theaters, setting up a Jurassic Word vs. Incredibles battle that should last until the next MCU installment arrives.

Top 10: Jurassic Park Moments

Jurassic Park was the first PG-13 movie I ever got to see in the theater.  Twenty-five years later, as the fifth film in the franchise is getting ready to lumber into theaters, the original still stands as one of the greatest blockbusters ever made.  To honor those pesky dinos, WatchMojo has put together a list of the 10 best moments from the first four films of the Jurassic franchise.  WM 90% nailed this one.  The first film dominates the list, as it should.  If I had to include every installment on the list, the only change between my list and theirs would have been to use the pterodactyl scene from Jurassic Park III instead of the Spinosaurus.  The franchise is more notable for its ability to generate bank rather than its quality past the original film (the bomb that was JPIII aside).  Fallen Kingdom’s early reviews don’t offer much hope that the fifth film will do much better than 2-4, but the original will always rank among my favorite summer films of all-time.Jurassic Park
