Last night we got a quick glance at the new series, but here’s a five-minute look at the new Flash series. I’m super-excited by this. Batman and Flash have the two best rogues galleries in the DCU and they’re both getting series this fall.
It’s just the headpiece, but we got our first look at Grant Gustin in costume as The Flash today. Gustin was introduced in Arrow this season as Barry Allen, the Central City Police Department lab tech who is struck by lightning and becomes the Flash. Gustin was originally going to return for Arrow 2.20 and that episode was going to serve as the pilot for The Flash’s own series. However, The CW was so pleased with the two episode stint that they decided to go ahead with the series on its own. Allen was shown being struck by lightning at the end of his guest stint on Arrow, and I’m guessing we’ll pick up there in the pilot. This is very classic Flash from what I can see, but updated to be a practical, useful costume. I cannot wait to have both Arrow and The Flash every week. In addition to Gustin, the series will star Tom Cavanaugh, Rick Cosnett, Michelle Harrison, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton and John Wesley Shipp. The Flash will premiere with the fall season later this year.
