Luke Cage Season 2 Trailer #1 (2018-Netflix) *Hero Is Your Word, Not Mine.*

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Mike Colter returns as the titular Luke Cage, with Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades and Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist. Newcomers to the series so far include Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce, The Night Of) as John McIver, a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance; and Gabrielle Dennis (Insecure, Rosewood) as Tilda Johnson, a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her.

The second season is executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker (Ray Donovan), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.

Marvel’s Luke Cage returns June 22.

Movie Review: The LEGO Batman Movie (2017) “Good, but not Awesome.”

2014’s The LEGO Movie may be the most absolutely delighted I have been by any film since starting this site, and I named it my Movie of the Year.  The film was beloved by many, so naturally now there is an entire slew of LEGO films on the way (two this year alone).  The first features the breakout star of The LEGO Movie‘s supporting cast: Will Arnett’s Batman.  Is it the awesomeness of The LEGO Movie or that the trailers seemed to promise?  No.  Sadly, in that respect, it’s a bit of a disappointment, but that doesn’t mean The LEGO Batman Movie is not a quality outing into the LEGOverse. Trailer Time: Iron Fist Season 1 Trailer #2 (2017 – Netflix) *The Last Defender*

*Text from Coming Soon
The Netflix original series Marvel’s Iron Fist is the fourth of the epic live-action adventure series (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones and Marvel’s Luke Cage which are now streaming, all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in Marvel’s The Defenders) to premiere only on Netflix. A fifth series, Marvel’s The Punisher, has also started filming and stars Jon Bernthal.

In Marvel’s Iron Fist, billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones) returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

The Marvel’s Iron Fist cast includes Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, with Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, David Wenham as Harold Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, and Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum. Marvel’s Jessica Jones star Carrie-Anne Moss will also reprise her role of lawyer Jeri Hogarth alongside Netflix’s connector between the shows, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres with 13 episodes on Netflix on March 17, 2017 at 12:01am PT in all territories where Netflix is available.

Trailer Time: LEGO Batman Trailer #4 *It’s Good to Be Batman*

Will Arnett is my fourth favorite Batman of all-time, in any genre (Christian Bale, Kevin Conroy, Michael Keaton precede).  His Batman in The LEGO Movie managed to completely mock the character, but stay absolutely true to his core (albeit from a fractured viewpoint).  I definitely think an entire movie of this is warranted, and the trailers have left me in stitches.  Joining Arnett will be Michael Cera (Robin), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl), Zach Galifanakis (The Joker), and Ralph Fiennes (Alfred).  The LEGO Batman Movie is slated for a February 10, 2017, release.

Trailer Time: Iron Fist Season 1 Trailer #1 (2017 – Netflix) *The Last Defender*

I just finished the first season of Luke Cage, and while it maintains the quality of the MCU on Netflix tradition, it was probably my least favorite of the series.  No knock on it, but that’s how high Daredevil and Jessica Jones raised the bar.  One thing Cage did do, was start to show you how all these people are going to be tied together, and using The Night Nurse (Rosario Dawson) as a catalyst in all four series was a brilliant idea.  If you’re wondering where all these trailers are coming from, the New York Comic Con is ongoing, and while it’s not the trailer deluge San Diego is, we’re getting trailer rain.  Iron Fist’s challenge is the same one Luke Cage faced: he doesn’t have an iconic archvillain.  It looks great, but great heroes need great villains and though the tweak to the Serpent Society they did with Cage was pretty brilliant and well-acted, it’s not Kingpin or Killgrave.

Also revealed at the same panel that gave us the Iron Fist trailer was that Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page on Daredevil will also be playing that role in The Punisher show, and the identity of who The Defenders will be facing was revealed.  Well, the actress playing whoever the villain is (and I have no clue who it could be) will be Sigourney Weaver.  This experiment on Netflix has just been a home run for both Marvel and Netflix and I’m looking forward to seeing Danny Rand arrive in the MCU when Iron Fist Season One is posted on March 17, 2017.Iron Fist, Netflix
