PHENOMENALLY AWESOME Trailers for Star Wars Episodes I-VI Given “The Force Awakens” Treatment!!! MUST! WATCH! NOW!

Star Wars, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, General Hux, Domnhall Gleeson, The First Order, Starkiller Base

The full trailer for Star Wars Episode VII is one of the best trailers I’ve ever seen.  Not just the pacing and reveals, but the fact that John Williams composed a special musical suite (more of which I wish was in the film) just for the trailer.  YouTube user Tom F. has done an amazing job applying that music and style to each of the preceding six episodes and the results (especially IV and V) make you want to just sit down and watch all the films again (no Gungans in any prequel trailer, points for Tom).  Episode VII will debut on DVD and Blu Ray in just a few weeks on April 5, 2016.  Watch these IMMEDIATELY.  All hail TOM F!

Star Wars Prequel Trilogy Gets a Force Awakening!!!

Matt Nicholson gives the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy a “The Force Awakens” trailer treatment, and no matter how you feel about Episodes I-III, you have to admit…..this is pretty cool.  Compliments to him for not only putting together a professional quality trailer, but capturing the best of the PT set in the challenging constraints of a pre-existing trailer’s score and running time.  For the record, this is NOT exclusively a Star Wars blog, but I’m going to be frank with you….it’s going to feel that way for a bit.  I’m driving the bus, so you’ll wave your lightsaber and you’ll like it!  Kudos, Mr. Nicholson (Matt, not Jack, though, sure, Jack too).

My Favorite Scene: Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) “Obi-Wan vs. Jango Fett”

Attack of the Clones is, to my mind, the weakest entry in the Star Wars series.  I think that this is a film that should have set up the payoff of Anakin falling to the Dark Side.  We should have gotten to know the Jedi that fell during Order 66.  We should have seen more of the Clone Wars instead of just one awesome battle after nearly two hours of listening to the English language be butchered during cinema’s most painfully forced love story.  For that matter, I’ve never understood why Count Dooku was necessary as a character.  Most of his back story was only established in the EU and letting Maul live or bringing Grevious forward a film would have been more interesting.  Ok, I swore I was going to focus on the positive things, didn’t I?  There ARE cool things in Attack of the Clones. POLL RESULTS: Best Star Wars Movie

The community has spoken and spoken clearly: The Empire Strikes Back is still the standard by which all Star Wars films are judged.  Not only did Episode V win, it never had less than 50% of the vote the entirety of the poll.

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Alec Guiness, Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope

What was surprising was that the original, A New Hope, was languishing just above Attack of the Clones until last week when a late rush swept it to second.  It battled Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith, which finished third and fourth, respectively. For all the prequel hate, Episode III was bouncing between second and fourth the whole month.  Revenge of the Sith is my third favorite film in the series and I think if you just watch Episodes III – VI (for now), you still have a pristine franchise. • Just a few days remain in our Star Wars poll.  The Empire Strikes Back looks like a sure winner, but there is a three way race for second place that’s razor-thin between Episodes III, IV and VI.  Make sure you get your votes in before the poll closes!

The time has come for the geek question of all geek questions: which is the greatest Star Wars movie?  I was going to make this November’s poll to lead us up to Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.  However, I have a feeling we’re all going to be talking a lot about Star Wars this month so I thought I’d unleash the beast into the geek pit now.
