DC Shows on The CW: Trailers & Premiere Dates for the 2017-2018 Season (Arrow, Black Lightning, Flash, Legends, and Supergirl)

Black Lightning

No matter how topsy turvy the DCEU has been, the DCU on The CW has been a model for how super hero shows can translate to TV.  I’m not a fan of Supergirl, but Legends of Tomorrow drastically improved last year, and a fifth show is being added to the line-up this fall: Black Lightning.  Comic Con was so busy that I wasn’t able to put up the trailers for the new fall seasons for the DC-CWverse, but here are each show’s premiere date followed by the trailers for each. My Favorite Scene: The Flash Season One (2014) “Ollie Schools Barry”

One of the great things about having The Flash spin-off from Arrow is that there is a pre-existing relationship between the two heroes that’s grown into a friendship not unlike the one that Batman/Superman share (only they try to kill each other less often).  With Oliver a seasoned veteran by this point and Barry relying more on his powers than his brain, Ollie decides to give Barry a training session that would make Batman weep with joy.Flash, Arrow, Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell

Trailer Time: Arrow Season 4 Trailer #1 (The CW – 2015) SPOILER WARNING (KILLING TIME’s 2500th POST!)

Arrow has continued to be one of the strongest shows on TV during its run, which now enters the fourth season. If you’re not up-to-date, both the synopsis for season four and the trailer are going to ruin a lot of the wealth of changes that season three wrought for Team Arrow. I haven’t heard anything official, but I assume next season will be the last for the show. It’s format has been to intertwine a year in the life of the evolving Hood, Arrow, Green Arrow with that of one of the five years Oliver Queen spent away before returning home. Extrapolating that out, next season will be the loop closing, covering the last year he was away and leading us back to the series premiere. As much as I would love to see it go on, it seems that’s where the writers have been heading since the beginning. We still have miles to go, though, and this trailer promises another awesome run when Arrow returns next month

After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe?

Comic Con 2015: Friday and Saturday Posters and Pictures (Arrow, X-Men: Apocalypse, Warcraft, Batman vs. Superman, Jessica Jones, and More)

Well, if Comic Con is a contest, I’d say DC is definitely come loaded for bear while the movie studios and Marvel (thus far) have been seriously underwhelming.  DC owned Saturday unveiling a second (and much better) full trailer for next year’s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.  They also announced a Green Lantern Corps movie.  Turning to their TV products, they debuted a new trailer

for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, a new costume for Arrow Season 4 (in which Arrow will become Green Arrow finally) and announced that Jay Garrick and Patty Spivot have been cast for Flash Season 2.

There are so many pretty pictures from the second Batman v. Superman trailer that I’ll give it its own post, but we also got a stunning preview of what to expect from Duncan Jones’ Warcraft film (with a trailer promised in November), a poster for X-Men: Apocalypse and a first look at Luke Cage in Netflix and Marvel’s Jessica Jones,  One more day to go.  What will Sunday bring?

17 New Arrow Season 3 Pictures and a New Villain Cast

My favorite show on network TV, Arrow, returns October 8th at 8 p.m. on The CW.  The second season is out on Blu Ray, so there’s no excuse not to be ready to go for the best live-action thing DC has ever done aside from The Dark Knight Trilogy.

The big bad for season three has already been Ras ‘al Ghul, something the show has been building to slowly for two years, but today Nick Taraby was cast as Digger Harkness.  That would be Captain Boomerang, who is a FLASH villain.  My guess is either it’s part of a crossover event between Arrow and Flash or Ollie & Co will be dealing with Digger during one of his stints on Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad.  Drink in the Starling City goodness.  TV IS RETURNING TO SAVE US FROM THE MOVIES!!!
