Top 10: Movies Where the World Ends

WatchMojo is another great YouTube channel.  Alongside CineFix and WhatCulture, it produces the best lists on YouTube.  In honor of Geostorm hitting the box office amidst a sea of ACTUAL natural disasters that are horrible enough, I thought why not shoot the moon and feature a list where the entire planet actually ends?  It goes without saying that if you haven’t seen any of these films…..well, the world DOES in fact end in them.  Bang.  Gone.  Spoiler.  They include some interesting films I haven’t seen and I love that they picked the criminally underrated Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, but how is The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy only an honorable mention???  I cannot argue with their #1 pick and the only Kubrick film I could watch on a loop: Dr. Strangelove.  So sit back, DON’T PANIC, and watch the world end a dozen or so times.  Then real life won’t seem quite so dire (probably, I haven’t seen the news today so don’t hold me to that).

Poll Results: Best X-Movie of All-Time

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters tonight, and it will be following the KT Readers’ pick for Best X-Movie of All-Time: X-Men Days of Future Past.  Just edging out this year’s Deadpool, DOFP captured the crown in voting that saw nods to six of the eight existing entries (someone voted for X-Men Origins: Wolverine….I want to find you).  My favorite film in the series is X2 followed by X-Men: First Class, but the readers have spoken and DOFP is our official answer to The Mutant Question.

Poll: Best X-Movie of All-Time

We are now two weeks away from X8 or X9 if you count Deadpool as an X-Men film.  I do, because there’s no way he’s not going to be woven into the fold in the future.  Though X-Men: Apocalypse is not getting the kind of reviews we’ve come to expect from a Brian Singer X-Men film, the franchise will go on, and hopefully to better things.  It’s a shame though that probably the best villain never to make it on the big screen is going to be wasted and thrown in the “Mr. Freeze bin” of tainted blue dastardlies.  Vote for your favorite X-Film and we’ll have the results when Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016.

Trailer Time: X-Men Apocalypse Trailer #3 (2016) *Wolverine’s A Comin’ Too!*

I have a bad feeling about this film.  Three trailers, all feel kind of on the same level of impressive as Independence Day: Resurgence, but these movies are supposed to have plot.  This trailer gives away two major spoilers in that Quicksilver reveals he’s figured out he’s Magneto’s son and a certain clawed mutant answers the question of whether or not he’s joining the fray.  I don’t know, it just seems like a lot of explosions and not much character focus at all.  Hopefully, I’m wrong.  Jennifer Lawrence is clearly owning this film, and she and James McAvoy have said they want to do more.  FOX is already rumored to be ramping up for X-Men: Dark Phoenix to follow this.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Psylocke, Olivia Munn, X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse also stars Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Lucas Till as Havok and newcomers Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Lana Condor as Jubilee, and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 27th, 2016.
