Each Thursday we look at what is going to be coming out in theaters this weekend, show you the trailers for the big releases, predict the box office winner and just generally give you enough of a carrot to pull you through the rest of the work week. June 3rd is one of the summer’s weakest weekends (probably because people thought both X-Men and Alice would do better than they have). Brandon Routh is Cast as The Atom/Ray Palmer and Joins the Cast of Arrow
My favorite Superman movie is Superman Returns. I’ve never understood the hate for the film, and I think it’s a freaking shame Brandon Routh is the George Lazenby of Supermans (obscure Bond joke check). I’m excited to see him joining my favorite broadcast show, Arrow, and expanding this wonderful TV DC Universe they’ve been building. Ray Palmer/The Atom is a very cool character that I’m sure Routh will make his own just as he did Superman….and the Vegan Boyfriend in Scott Pilgrim. More on the casting below from Coming Soon. Arrow is Renewed for Season Three! The CW Renews its Hit Dramas Early.
In year one, Arrow was pretty fantastic; in year two, the costumed drama has become probably the best show on network TV. The CW seems to agree because it renewed Arrow for a third season along with its other strong dramas: Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Supernatural. In all honesty, Arrow may be the best live adaptation of anything in the DCU outside of the Dark Knight Trilogy.
