Poll Results: The Best Show on TV Is…..

Killing Time readers voted and the new winner of the title: Best Show on TV is the first winner the site ever dubbed back in 2013 – HBO’s Game of Thrones.  The seventh, and next-to-last season for the HBO fantasy drama lead from start to finish, ending up fending off its sister show on HBO, Westworld, which finished second after its first season.  Sherlock finished third for its fourth season, and last season’s winner, The Flash finished tied with Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why to round out the top five.  The voting was very diverse, with 13 of the 15 nominees getting at least one vote.

Here’s the history of our winners:
2013: Game of Thrones Season Three (HBO)
2014: The Walking Dead Season Four (AMC)
2015: Daredevil Season One (Netflix)
2016: The Flash Season Two (The CW)
2017: Game of Thrones Season Seven (HBO) Continue reading Poll Results: The Best Show on TV Is…..

Poll: What is the Best Show on TV? 5th Annual KT Viewers Poll!!!

Each September, in conjunction with Emmy month, Killing Time readers choose what they believe to be the best show currently on television.  TV has gone from a second tier medium to one that is consistently better with more variety than the movies.  There’s so much quality, in fact, that, while I set the nominee list at 15 this year (and cutting it down was hard).  It’s telling that, in those 15 shows, there’s one comedy (and, in truth, Atlanta is more of a dramedy).  The sitcom has never been at a worse point, while drama may not be at the peak of its golden age, but it’s still a better bet than the movies have become. KT Readers Choose The Best Show on TV (4th Annual Awards)!!!!

Each September, in conjunction with Emmy month, Killing Time readers choose what they believe to be the best show currently on television.  TV has gone from a second tier medium to one that is consistently better with more variety than the movies.  There’s so much quality, in fact, that, this year, I doubled the nominees from the regular 10 to 20 shows. We had a record number of votes for any poll in the history of the site, and every one of the 20 shows received votes, but in the end, we have our fourth new winner in four years: The Flash is the best show on television. Poll Results: Daredevil Is the Best Show on Television!!! Plus the KT TV Awards!

Daredevil is the third show in three years to take home the coveted title of “Killing Time Community Best Show on TV”.  2013 was Game of Thrones, 2014 was The Walking Dead and now 2015 belongs to Daredevil.  The Man Without Fear lead post to post, dominating most of the early voting, but barely holding off a late surge from Game of Thrones after the HBO drama smashed the Emmy record for most wins by a show.  Daredevil was my pick as well, and I think the best thing the MCU has produced to-date, which given the bar they’ve set, is truly high praise.

Charlie Cox, Daredevil

Daredevil will be back for season 2 in April 2016. We’ll see The Punisher and Elektra join the mix and Scott Glenn will return as Matt’s mentor, Stick.  The series received ONE Emmy nomination (for Sound Effects Editing), which is, again, why I do not watch the Emmys.  Had I all the power in the universe, and in this universe I do, these would have been my winners in the major categories:

Best Drama: Daredevil, Netfilx
Best Comedy: Parks & Recreation, NBC
Best Actor, Drama: Jon Hamm, Mad Men, AMC
Best Actress, Drama: Robin Wright, House of Cards, Netflix
Best Actor, Comedy: Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory, CBS
Best Actress, Comedy: Amy Poehler, Parks & Recreation, NBC
Best Supporting Actor, Drama: Vincent D’Onofrio, Daredevil
Best Supporting Actress, Drama: Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones
Best Supporting Actor, Comedy: Nick Offerman, Parks & Recreation
Best Supporting Actress, Comedy: Aubrey Plaza, Parks & Recreation
