About Killing Time

KILLING TIME

Killing Time is the nerdy brain spawn  of David Yaeger,  Lover of movies, TV, comics, prose, video games and all the other methods of escape life provides, Dave roams America, sharing his thoughts on these topics and more with the Killing Time community.

Time is a treacherous two-headed beast.  There are certainly times when life offers nothing to do, and I try to suggest things you can do to fill those hours.  However, time must also be cultivated and never taken as an assumed infinite quantity.  Trust me, make use of every second on one pursuit or the other, or one day you’ll find yourself horrified at all the time that wasn’t killed having fun or cultivated by building relationships, knowledge and family.  It’s the time that simply slips idly through our fingers that will haunt you forever.

That’s quite enough serious talk, because we rarely do that sort of thing.  We’re far more likely to talk about the possibility of Jell-O weasels (probably an actual thing) than we are to weigh in on anything serious.

Hopefully, you’ll find the news and reviews here entertaining and take part in the discussion.  Active participation is encouraged and if you have ideas for blog topics, you can contact me via Twitter @sleeplessdave, or on our Facebook page here.   Thank you for taking the time to visit the site and please share your comments and ideas!

      1. You deserve to be recognized, so much so you almost don’t fit the bill for this one. Congratulations on all the followers!

      2. I concur. My gamertag is sleeplessdave. Who is or what is a Liebster btw. It only just now occurred to me to ask that. Before I’d just walked about shaking hands and casually mentioning I was up for a Liebster.

      3. I’m not really sure… That’s probably not the brightest, huh? Accepting and nominating for an award you have not an inkling of a clue about… I suppose it’s just an award to get you noticed more.
My gamertag is monsterkatz. Yes, odd indeed, I know.

      4. Haha yes.
        Huh… Nice job finding it.
I don’t envy him; I can only imagine how long it took and how tedious a task it was to wade through all of the blogs nominated.

  1. Dave, I’m sure you’ve tried everything for your insomnia, but have you experimented with Byzantine church music? I used to suffer from insomnia, and it worked like a charm for me. I would go to sleep wearing my earphones, with the CD walkman set to its looping mode. You don’t have to be a believer; simply falling asleep with the music and waking up to the same was unbelievably peaceful and made for a satisfying sleep.

    1. Yeeeeah, I’ve tried everything. It’s not a physical thing. My mind doesn’t shut off. Then when I tell it to shut off it gets pissed and starts loudly reciting the Vice-Presidents backwards. I write most of what I write on 3 hours sleep so if it’s any good at all, when they invent magic sleep dust, I’ll be Twain.

  3. Hey David! I was wondering if you could give me written permission to use one of your Will Smith pictures for a sweatshirt I am making! It would mean the world to me I have been trying to make this sweatshirt for a long time and they won’t let me order it without permission from the owner…please get back to me! thanks!

    1. Hi Katie. I’m certainly fine with it but I got the pictures through research and it was so long ago that I couldn’t tell you if it was public domain. No one has ever hassled me about using them and as far as I know unless you’re making a million to sell it should be ok. For what it’s worth though you certainly have my permission to reproduce excerpts from the article. That sentence might be enough for them lol. Thanks for reading!

    1. Thank you very much! I really appreciate the kind words. Mine has been going for about 4.5 years and is constantly evolving. I will definitely check out your new site. I cannot begin to imagine restarting after 11 years.

      1. Sir? Not me but you deserve that word. I’m just a student still. Learning from things and people like you. Welcome and thank you too. Today I will watch Lion maybe. Based on a true story of an Indian guy. Trailer impressed me.
