Vader Unleashed: The Final Scene From Rogue One!!!

A bonus “My Favorite Scene” this week as I try to catch up on the backlog of posts, and because Disney has apparently stopped trying to play whack-a-mole with the army of determined Star Wars fans trying to put this scene up on the Internet.  If you have yet to see Rogue One….well, then we here have no pity for you, this scene alone was worth the price of multiple admissions.  In Rogue One, more than in any SW film, we got to see Vader in the suit in his prime, and the result was both horrifying and awesome. Natalie Portman’s 10 Best Movies

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is the first millennial to win an Oscar.  She’s the first profile we’ve done on a member of the Star Wars ensemble.  She’s been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Jane Foster in the first two Thor films.  She was born in Israel in 1981 and started her acting career at 11.  Despite being around since the early 1990’s, the actress is still several years short of 40, and after going trough a slump for a few years (which spawned the famous “Star Wars ruined my career” rant), recent outstanding performances like last year’s Jackie indicate she’s back on track as one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood.  I actually think there is a little something to the Star Wars rant in that her best films are generally before or during her time playing Padme Amidala during Star Wars Episodes I-III.  I think it was only after she won her Oscar for the twisted ballet drama Black Swan that she transitioned into taking the kind of adult roles that suit her now the way things like Leon, Heat, and Garden State did at those times in her life.  I’m excited about her next project for 2017, and I think Portman is heading into a new golden phase of her career.

The 10 Best Character Entrances of All-Time

If you’ve spent any time on YouTube at all, you know people are desperate for subscribers.  The last 10-30 seconds of almost any YouTube video are a needy cry for help from whatever channel you’re watching, but if you’re a movie fan, and you want consistently awesome and inventive lists, you need to subscribe to CineFix.  They turn out random Top….Whatever lists on a regular basis and they’ve come up with some great ones.  This particular one highlights the best character introductions; the first time you see a character onscreen and know they will dominate the film and fill your mind with catchphrases for years to come.  I liked this idea so much, I will not actually watch their video until after I publish this post because I made my own top 10 list below based off the same idea.  So if they copy my ideas, it’s certainly not my fault. Rogue One’s Original Ending Explained

The Final Frontier has gone through and compiled a detailed  look at what the reshoots actually changed in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  The film is a perfect example of dramatic reshoots improving a film and not being the knell of doom they’re usually viewed as (though I still think the first act in Jedha is a little choppy).  Going through the scenes we all thought we were getting from the trailers that never appeared in the film, the video offers a lot of great insight on what was a cut and what was never intended to be in the film in the first place.  One thing I found interesting was that I assumed that the decision to kill the whole team (no, I didn’t put a spoiler warning on it because you’re a putz if you haven’t seen it by now) had been a part of the reshoots, but Lucasfilm authorized that before filming began. HOW the team perished though was a large part of the reshoots.  Check it out while we wait to hear the details of what will be on the Rogue One Blu Ray and when we can expect it.
