Thor: Ragnarok Trailer #3 (2017) “Thor, Destiny Has Dire Plans For You”

In the third trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (also the Japanese trailer in which the film’s weird lettering makes sense for the first time), we get mostly footage from the first two trailers, but it does have a very new beginning featuring Doctor Strange.  We knew Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme would be in the film from one of Doctor Strange‘s end credits scenes last year, but he opens this trailer, which has a much more dire tone than the humor of the first two, by telling Thor that his fate has changed and destiny has dire plans for him.  Read below for the official synopsis.  Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 3, 2017. Thor: Ragnarok Trailer #2 (2017) “Thor Like Water; Hulk Like Fire!”

This looks amazing….except for the 80s arcade lettering, which I don’t get, but this is going to be fantastic!

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder himself, with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Sir Anthony Hopkins again portraying Odin. The film also stars Cate Blanchett as the death-obsessed Hela, Tessa Thompson as hero Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the eccentric Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge. Also among the cast is Sam Neill, reuniting with Taika Waititi, who directed him in his previous film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and his Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum. Finally, as teased at the end of his solo film, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will team with the God of Thunder to deal with Loki.

Kevin Feige will produce the film, joined by executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel and Stan Lee. The screenplay hails from Stephany Folsom, Craig Kyle, Eric Pearson and Christopher Yost.

Thor: Ragnarok will smash its way into theaters on November 3, 2017.

Thor: Ragnarok

Trailer Time: Thor Ragnarok Trailer #1 (2017) *Beaten, Broken, and Banished*

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Thor and Hulk.  The former left on a quest to discover what was going on with the Infinity Gems (as we know Thanos is collecting them for his gauntlet), and Hulk flew off in the Quinjet after Black Widow broke his big, green heart.  Thor 3, entitled Thor: Ragnarok, returns us to Asgard and it is a changed place indeed.  Loki deposed Odin at the end of Thor: The Dark World, and it seems he’s lost his own place to Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Queen of the Norse Underworld.  If Marvel has a consistent criticism it’s that it has focused on its heroes nearly to the exclusion of developing iconic villains (Loki aside).  Hela is on a very different level of power than Loki or Malekith and she demonstrates that about 20 seconds into this awesome first look at the Marvel fall film.

In Theaters This Week (3/10/2017): Kong Skull Island

Each Thursday we look at what is going to be coming out in theaters this weekend, show you the trailers for the big releases, predict the box office winner and just generally give you enough of a carrot to pull you through the rest of the work week.  Week 2 of March Movie Madness only has one major release, but when you’re the size of Kong, one will do. Trailer Time: Kong Skull Island Trailer #3 (2017) *KONG!*

Well, if Kong: Skull Island accomplishes nothing else, it will have made some of the best-produced, most stylish, gorgeously cinematic trailers of recent years.  I really liked Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, but this looks ten times better and if it is, and they can make a showdown film between these monsters as epic as this looks….then we will have achieved true monster awesomeness.  Kong Skull Island is Film #2 in March Movie Madness 2017 and opens March 10, 2017.
