Well, if Kong: Skull Island accomplishes nothing else, it will have made some of the best-produced, most stylish, gorgeously cinematic trailers of recent years. I really liked Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, but this looks ten times better and if it is, and they can make a showdown film between these monsters as epic as this looks….then we will have achieved true monster awesomeness. Kong Skull Island is Film #2 in March Movie Madness 2017 and opens March 10, 2017.

I don’t think I can remember a non-Comic Con week where so many trailers have dropped like this one. The second trailer for Kong: Skull Island has premiered, and hold on to your butts, people, we’re in for something amazing. I don’t like this trailer as much as the first, and I’m a little worried John C. Reilly’s character is going to Jar Jar this thing, but mostly I’m in awe at how amazing this looks. The onslaught of trailers from Comic Con’s busiest day continues with the first full trailer for 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. Visually arresting and boasting a cast with Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Hiddleston, this just jumped onto my 2017 MUST SEE list.
Anyone who wondered if Chris Rock was going to address the controversy surrounding the lack of minority nominees in his second, turn as Oscar host, had about six seconds to wonder. Rock, in a monologue so strong that it reminded everyone why he’s the best stand-up comedian today, absolutely blasted the Academy, the boycott, racism in general and did it all in such a wise and hysterical way that I don’t think anyone else could have. In fact, the first half of the show was pretty much The Chris Rock Variety Show With a Special Focus on Race….and it was (with a few exceptions) pretty brilliant. Before we get to the actual awards, which were every bit as bizarre as the rest of the night, here’s Rock’s monologue:
