Final Fantasy XV – Complete Achievement/Trophy List (2016 – Xbox, Playstation)

After approximately 9,000 years of waiting, 25 different titles, and even more hyperbole, Final Fantasy XV is less than six hours from release in the United States.  Final Fantasy X was the game that got me back into gaming after a several year hiatus, so I’m looking at the advance reviews, and feeling good about returning to a franchise that once WAS RPGs, and has become left behind as franchises like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, and The Witcher passed it by.  Like all Final Fantasy games, it looks gorgeous (and the achievements seem human for once).  The full list is below courtesy of the peerless xboxachievements.com.  Final Fantasy XV will release at midnight.

Complete Achievement/Trophy List for FIFA 17 (Xbox, Playstation – 2016)

After the very successful Rio Olympics, looking back, one of the highlights (THE highlight) for the host nation was Brazil’s victory over Germany in an amazing game that came down to the final penalty kick.  So riding that soccer (ahem football) buzz into video game stores is EA Sports’ FIFA 17.  The FIFA series consistently ranks at or near the top of the sports genre, and this year looks to be no exception.  You have some time to kill before it hits shelves on September 27, 2016, for both Xbox and Playstation consoles.  So you might as well spend it watching the highlights from that amazing Gold Medal match between Brazil and Germany (suffering Olympic withdrawal…..2018 Winter  Games in South Korea so far away…..). Achievement list below courtesy of xboxachievements.com.

Trailer Time: Warcraft Trailer #2 (2016) *Can Warcraft Break the Video Game Curse?*

It’s a bit of an understatement to say that video games haven’t exactly translated well onto film in the past. 2016 could be the year all that changes with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard’s Assassin’s Creed and the Duncan Jones-directed Warcraft.  I’m so happy there’s a second trailer out for the film if, for no other reason, I’ve been seriously pounded with the first one in every movie I’ve attended for months.

Azeroth looks fully-realized and Warcraft a totally immersive fantasy film.  What troubles me are the humans.  The acting…is not stellar in the trailers.  So can the world and the story overcome a mediocre cast, or are we just going to have to wait for Fassbender to assassinate the video game/movie curse this fall?  Warcraft opens June 10, 2016.

Trailer Time: Warcraft Trailer #2 (2016) *War is Coming!*

Warcraft is a film that a lot of people are looking at as a potential bust in a crowded summer.  I’ve loved what I’ve seen of the fantasy epic thus far, and director Duncan Jones (The Source Code, Moon) has never steered me wrong before.  World of Warcraft has a global fan base that will certainly respond to a movie that does justice to the MMORPG, but can Warcraft break the video game movie adaptation curse that’s dogged attempts to translate the interactive medium to the big screen?  We’ll find out when Warcraft opens wide on June 10, 2016.

Complete Achievement/Trophy List for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers (Xbox, Playstation – 2016)

In 2016, the Avengers are going to split apart at the seams in Captain America: Civil War (not really a spoiler if you can read titles).  Before they do, vicariously live through the first two phases of the MCU in LEGO form when LEGO Marvel Avengers hits shelves on January 26th.  As all should know by now, I am a LEGO fiend and have this baby preordered because …..of my nephew….totally because of him.  Achievements are provided (and there are some awesome ones) courtesy of the gold standard in achievement hunters sites: xboxachievements.com.
