Movie Review: August Osage County (2013)

Julianne Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, August Osage County
I don’t want to make this long.  It’s not for lack of criticism.  I just don’t want to spend a second more than I have to contemplating this movie.  It is, quite simply, the most unpleasant, hateful, interminable waste of time I’ve had to endure in years.  I’m not limiting that statement to just movies.  I know You’re Next and The Lone Ranger are probably technically worse movies, but there is no movie in 2013 I’ve hated more than August: Osage County. Top 5 Movies for MLK Weekend

Top 5
This weekend here in the States most of us have Monday off to honor the memory of slain Civil Rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  While I’ve never seen a great biography of King (though Hampton Sides wrote an amazing account of the events surrounding his last days called Hellhound on His Trail), there are many movies in every genre that honor his ideals and showcase aspects of the trials he, and anyone, who has had to fight discrimination, have had to endure.  I’ve picked one of my favorites from Law, Politics, War, Sports and Science Fiction that I feel show insight into this troubled area of the human soul.  I hope everyone has a great weekend. The 2013 KT Game of the Year is Batman Arkham Origins.  The voting on this was the closest of any poll we’ve ever run.  A last-minute surge put Origins over the top over Grand Theft Auto V.  GTA tied The Last of Us (which I’m tremendously bummed I won’t get to play as an XBOX guy) for second place.   Continue reading POLL RESULTS: THE KILLING TIME COMMUNITY’S PICK FOR BEST VIDEO GAME OF 2013 IS….
