Dishonored: Death of the Outsider Complete Achievement List (Xbox, Playstation – 2017)

The third game in the critically-acclaimed Dishonored series is out today for Xbox, Playstation, and PC.  Shamefully, I have the first Dishonored in my games queue, where I’ve fallen behind (working on Life is Strange and Mafia III currently).  So I have awhile to go before I get to this one, but it looks gorgeous.  Cheevos below, as always, provided by the peerless xboxachievements.com. Red Sparrow Trailer #1 (2018) *Cough Black Widow Cough*

I know this is based on a series of novels by Jason Matthews, but if you substitute “Red Sparrow” for “Black Widow” it seems awfully familiar. If Marvel doesn’t kick up its game, this may be as close to a solo Widow film as we ever get.  Read Coming Soon’s full synopsis below.  Red Sparrow is coming in March 2018.

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Red Sparrow, the upcoming action thriller starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence. Check out the Red Sparrow trailer using the player below!

Dominika Egorova is many things. A devoted daughter determined to protect her mother at all costs. A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit. A master of seductive and manipulative combat.

When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika and her mother are facing a bleak and uncertain future. That is why she finds herself manipulated into becoming the newest recruit for Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains exceptional young people like her to use their bodies and minds as weapons. After enduring the perverse and sadistic training process, she emerges as the most dangerous Sparrow the program has ever produced. Dominika must now reconcile the person she was with the power she now commands, with her own life and everyone she cares about at risk, including an American CIA agent who tries to convince her he is the only person she can trust.

Red Sparrow also stars Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons.

Francis Lawrence, who previously directed Jennifer Lawrence in the final three Hunger Games movies, directs Red Sparrow from a screenplay by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) based on the book by Jason Matthews. Chernin Entertainment is producing with Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch is an executive producer.

Red Sparrow arrives in theaters on March 2, 2018.

Movie Review: Kong Skull Island (2017) *Kong’s Island is Hollow*

kongbig
Coming out of last year’s Comic Con, I thought Kong Skull Island was the most impressive looking film of the bunch, and I had high hopes for cinema’s ape emeritus going into his first outing since the bloated mess that was Peter Jackson’s King Kong.  This film takes place in the MONARCH Universe (I’m not sure if there’s an official name) along with Gareth Edward’s Godzilla and the upcoming-wait for it-Godzilla vs. King Kong.  Like Godzilla, the film gets the monster right.  This is an interesting take on Kong, and one that does him justice.  The problem, like in Godzilla, are the humans surrounding him.
