Assassin’s Creed: Origins Complete Achievement List (Xbox, PS4, PC – 2017)

Once one of my favorite game franchises, Assassin’s Creed has floundered in recent years.  The series had some good installments (Syndicate was especially good), but once they moved through the Ezio Trilogy, the series never captured the mystique of the first four games.  After the movie failed, Ubisoft took some time off and went back to the beginning.  Assassin’s Creed: Origins takes place in ancient Egypt and tells the story of Bayek and the founding of the group that we were first introduced to over a decade ago with Altair in Assassin’s Creed.  It looks amazing.  Here’s hoping it can follow through.  Assassin’s Creed: Origin is out October 27, 2017, and your cheevos are below courtesy-as always-from the Intertubes most ancient and honorable house of achievements: xboxachievements.com. In Theaters This Week Christmas Edition-Passengers, Assassin’s Creed, Why Him?, Sing, Fences

Passengers, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence

Each Thursday we look at what is going to be coming out in theaters this weekend, show you the trailers for the big releases, predict the box office winner and just generally give you enough of a carrot to pull you through the rest of the work week.  This week is a little different as Christmas falls on Sunday and studios are releasing films all through the week to catch vacationing filmgoers. Trailer Time: Assassin’s Creed Trailer #3 (2016) *Blood Will Win Out*

The final trailer for Assassin’s Creed is, also in my opinion, the best we’ve seen so far.  The last trailer was awful; the first trailer was extremely promising, and now this leaves things on a hopeful note that we’ll finally get a good film out of a video game franchise.  The plot as explained in the film is essentially the plot of the first game in the franchise only with a different protagonist and historical setting.  The look of everything (with the exception of making The Animus a little more exciting than the table it is in the games) is true to the series, and the plot seems dead-on.  My biggest reason for being worried is that this is getting little to no marketing push.  Compared to Passengers, which it opens against, you barely hear about this film.  I’ve analyzed this industry enough to know that if they really felt they had something that could go up against Passengers and Rogue One in its second week, we’d be seeing advertising everywhere.  I hope I’m wrong, because AC is my favorite video game franchise and with it’s material and the caliber of actors, if this falls flat….maybe video games really can’t be adapted for the screen.  Assassin’s Creed opens December 21, 2016.

The Ezio Collection (Assassin’s Creed) Complete Achievement/Trophy Lists (Xbox, Playstation – 2016)

It’s tough to argue that the best of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, bundled in an enhanced graphics package, in a 3 for 1 deal isn’t a great way to revisit the games in preparation for the upcoming (please, God, let it be good) movie.  Or, if you’ve never played the Assassin’s Creed franchise, you really should play the first game, but if you want to dive into installments 2-4 of the series, you can’t go wrong.  While it’s hitting the big screen, the series is taking a break.  There will be no installment this year, and it looks like 2017 will be assassin-free as well.  This is ironic since last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate was the best game in the series since the final installment in this package.  Rumor is when next we meet, the setting will be ancient Egypt, which is worth waiting for if they can find an Assassin protagonist as deep, charismatic, and fun as Ezio Auditore.  In this trilogy, you will follow Ezio from a clueless youth to the end of his life as the leader of the Assassin Order.  Assassin’s Creed II is undoubtedly the best game in the series, Brotherhood is a slight stumble, but Revelations gave Ezio a grand finale in Constantinople.  You can earn up to 3,000 gamer points if you stealthily stab your way to 100%.  Achievement list below provided by the shadowy organization known only as xboxachievements.com.  The Ezio Collection is available now for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Trailer Time: Assassin’s Creed Trailer #2 (2016) *Time War Gone Tone Deaf*

Assassin’s Creed is my favorite video game franchise.  I also think it’s the best chance we may ever have to get a good movie out of a video game franchise of the ones in work right now (no, not betting on the Tetris trilogy).  The first trailer was awesome and did a fantastic job explaining the premise of the games.  I really, really hate this second trailer.  It’s a mess.  If you didn’t know anything about the games or hadn’t seen the first trailer, you’d have no idea what the heck was going on, plus it ties the first Star Trek Beyond trailer for most off-putting use of music in a trailer this year.  A minute into it, I just wanted it to end.  Now Star Trek Beyond (which I tragically have not seen yet) generally got very good reviews, so you can’t judge it by the trailer alone, but my expectations and hopes for this took a nosedive.  Assassin’s Creed opens December 21, 2016.
