As The Last Jedi approaches, many Star Wars fans are coming up in full preparation mode, scrutinizing every detail of the eighth episode in the Saga whether it be the exciting props, from box office odds to who will Kylo Ren kill, the questions are endless. I’ve pared it down to ten critical queries as we hit T-minus two weeks until Episode VII opens. No spoilers below, simply my best guesses, combined with a few answers straight from director Rian Johnson. Continue reading 10 Big Questions Going Into Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Unusual Suspects has put together a truly awesome trailer for The Empire Strikes Back featuring the score and the style of the trailer for The Last Jedi. A lot of people criticized The Force Awakens for drawing too heavily from A New Hope, but I don’t think that criticism is going to be valid for Empire and TLJ (for the record, I think it’s a lazy critique of the first film in the sequel trilogy). At any rate, this is just a well-done piece of Star Wars candy to get you through your week. You can click here to see all six prior saga trilogy films get this same sort of treatment with the music and style of The Force Awakens trailer.
Star Wars fans have a long history of creating some of the best fan art and fan made posters cinema has ever seen. Episode VII, especially, and the speculation surrounding it brought out the best in the fan community and, as much as I love the official poster, there are some fan posters that are just as good if not better. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story too had a number of amazing fan posters created that were on par with the official banner. Where movie posters have become a lost art, Star Wars has always had gorgeous official posters, and-since the advent of the Internet-fans have been able to share their own amazing work with the global fan community. Episode VIII is next on the radar, and-while it is early-there are already a number of outstanding posters online. I apologize to the artists for not being able to track down the names for most of them, and it IS early (I think the secrecy behind the plot has a lot of fan artists waiting for the first trailer to show some iconic imagery to work with), but here’s an early gallery of some of the best Episode VIII posters.
It’s a question all Star Wars fans have been asking since the tragic death of Carrie Fisher last month: “How big a deal is this going to be for the finale of the current trilogy?” Unfortunately, it’s a really big deal. A movie (yes, even a Star Wars movie) next to the life of a person is nothing at all, but Leia is going be the largest part of her acting legacy. I don’t think it’s out of line for fans to be concerned for the future of Leia, for in our concern for the character, we’re also safeguarding Fisher’s decades-long investment in the character.
Ask any guy who grew up with Star Wars, and we’ll admit it: we were all in love with her at some point. She blasted Stormtroopers, piloted speeder bikes, commanded armies, and choked out a Hutt in the hottest outfit in film history. She was the only girl action figure most of us kept around. She was awesome, and we loved her for it, and part of us always will. So until we’re all one with the Force, here are my five favorite Leia memories.
1. Aren’t You a Little Short to be a Stormtrooper? (A New Hope)
2. You Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder! (The Empire Strikes Back)
3. I love you. I know. (The Empire Strikes Back)
4. Slave Leia Chokes a Hutt OUT (Return of the Jedi)
5. I Always Hated Watching You Leave (The Force Awakens)
