“The Last” Fantastic Luke Skywalker Tribute Video

This month has been the 40th anniversary celebration of the film that started it all: Star Wars.  Seven more films later, with four more on the way (Lucasfilm has announced the third spin-off will be announced for 2020 sometime in June 2017), the film that started with a farm boy is coming full circle with this Christmas’ The Last Jedi.  “Who is Luke Skywalker?” is the central question that drove JJ Abrams to get involved with the sequels.  After only a brief, cryptic cameo in The Force Awakens, Luke looks to be as central to Episode VIII as any character.  We know he’s not the man Rey expects to find.  The first trailer for TLJ has him condemning the Jedi.  However, Hero Fan Productions “The Last” does a really fantastic job at recapping Luke’s journey, especially in highlighting the parallels with Anakin’s journey and where Luke went right and Anakin wrong.  I think TLJ is a continuation of the journey (we do have several decades of catching up to do), and I don’t think we’ll be saying good-bye to Luke until Episode IX.  Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.Star Wars Episode IV, Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi Trailer – HD Screenshots and Breakdown

Having watched it about ten times now, the first teaser for The Last Jedi is a decidedly different roll out than either The Force Awakens or Rogue One got.  It’s definitely a teaser; not a full trailer and still gives very little away on plot, but what it does give is pretty jaw-dropping.  It looks like Luke did indeed find the first Jedi Temple, and agrees to train Rey (remember, this film will pick up exactly where Episode VII ended).  Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is on the teaser poster sporting a new scar courtesy of Rey and it looks like he’s ditched the helmet (what would grandfather think?).  Aside from that, the shots are very cryptic; new ships, Finn still recovering, a brief look at the new Super AT-ATs, but the shocker is the end of the teaser and Luke’s opinion of the Jedi.  Far from restarting the order, Luke says, “It’s time for the Jedi….to end.”  Stills from the trailer and more speculation below. Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi!!! Episode VIII’s Title Finally Revealed!!!

Star Wars Episode VIII’s official title has finally been revealed and the eighth episode is Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  I love it.  It’s so fitting given where Episode VII left off with us finally getting to Luke (to whom I’m supposing the title refers as he is called the last Jedi in The Force Awakens’ crawl), and we know from director Rian Johnson that we’re going to pick up exactly where we left Luke and Rey.  No more details released than the details below from Coming Soon and a stark teaser poster, but the timing of the release seems to indicate that the rumors that we’ll get our first look at The Last Jedi during Super Bowl LI in two weeks are true.  MAN I LOVE THIS TITLE!

Star Wars Episode VIII Fan Made Poster Gallery

Star Wars fans have a long history of creating some of the best fan art and fan made posters cinema has ever seen.  Episode VII, especially, and the speculation surrounding it brought out the best in the fan community and, as much as I love the official poster, there are some fan posters that are just as good if not better.  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story too had a number of amazing fan posters created that were on par with the official banner.  Where movie posters have become a lost art, Star Wars has always had gorgeous official posters, and-since the advent of the Internet-fans have been able to share their own amazing work with the global fan community.  Episode VIII is next on the radar, and-while it is early-there are already a number of outstanding posters online.  I apologize to the artists for not being able to track down the names for most of them, and it IS early (I think the secrecy behind the plot has a lot of fan artists waiting for the first trailer to show some iconic imagery to work with), but here’s an early gallery of some of the best Episode VIII posters.
