My Favorite Scene: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) “Monkey See; Monkey Shoot”

Every hero needs a villain.  The strength of the hero is shown in the vileness of the villain he has to overcome.  One of the reasons Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was twice as good as Rise of Planet of the Apes was that Caesar had his very own Brutus in Toby Kebbell’s Koba. Trailer Time: Kong Skull Island Trailer #3 (2017) *KONG!*

Well, if Kong: Skull Island accomplishes nothing else, it will have made some of the best-produced, most stylish, gorgeously cinematic trailers of recent years.  I really liked Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, but this looks ten times better and if it is, and they can make a showdown film between these monsters as epic as this looks….then we will have achieved true monster awesomeness.  Kong Skull Island is Film #2 in March Movie Madness 2017 and opens March 10, 2017.

Trailer Time: Kong Skull Island Trailer #2 (2017) *KONG!*

I don’t think I can remember a non-Comic Con week where so many trailers have dropped like this one.  The second trailer for Kong: Skull Island has premiered, and hold on to your butts, people, we’re in for something amazing.  I don’t like this trailer as much as the first, and I’m a little worried John C. Reilly’s character is going to Jar Jar this thing, but mostly I’m in awe at how amazing this looks. Continue reading Trailer Time: Kong Skull Island Trailer #2 (2017) *KONG!*

Trailer Time: Gold Trailer #1 (2016) *McConaughey Has Gold Fever*

*From Variety

“Gold” is directed by Stephen Gaghan and loosely based on the Bre-X mining scandal of the 1990s. McConaughey plays Wells as a down-and-out prospector who teams up with a geologist (Edgar Ramirez) to find a massive gold deposit in the jungles of Borneo.

“It’s amazing how a little gold dust can just change everything,” Wells says in the trailer. “For better or worse, the ride has begun.”

But keeping the gold is even harder as Wall Street,  the FBI and the Indonesian military take notice.

The film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard as Wells’ wife, Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, Bruce Greenwood and Stacy Keach.

Gaghan, who directed “Syriana” and wrote “Traffic,” helmed from a screenplay by Patrick Massett & John Zinman, who are also producing along with McConaughey, Teddy Schwarzman for Black Bear Pictures and Michael Nozik for HWY61.

“Gold” opens on Christmas Day in the U.S.
