The New Mutants Trailer #1 (2018) *Not The New Mutants I Remember…*

Sooo…. these are not The New Mutants I’m familiar with from the comics.  FOX seems, as Coming Soon talks more about below, a little genre happy in exploring the X-MenDeadpool as comedy worked.  Logan as a western worked.  The New Mutants as a haunted house film?  Yeah, I don’t know.  From director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), and starring some really talented young actors like Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), this has a ways to go to convince me it’s not wildly off-track.  The New Mutants open April 18, 2018. X-Men Days of Future Plot and Havok Will Return *SPOILERS – SLIGHT*

Peter Dinklage, X-Men Days of Future Past

Vulture scored a new summary of the plot of X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as confirmed that Peter Dinklage HAS been cast as Bolivar Trask (creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinels) and Josh Helman will be playing a younger version of William Stryker (whom Brian Cox played so well in X2).  This comes on the heels of Bryan Singer confirming that Lucas Till will be returning from X-Men: First Class as Havok.  Vulture’s plot summary:

“Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.”

Whahuh?  This hurts my mind.  I’m also still kind of freaked out by how many mutants are in this cast.  How can you do justice to this many characters?  There are over 20 confirmed!  Bryan Singer’s got a juggling act on his hands.  We’ll see the results when X-Men: Days of Future Past opens next summer.

X-Force Movie on the Way!

x-force, cable, wolverine, shatterstar, domno, boom boom, feral, days of future past

*FROM ComingSoon.net via The Hollywood Reporter Just hours after we first posted news of a potential X-Force feature film, series creator Rob Liefeld confirmed that such a project was in development. Now, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that it’s Kick-Ass 2 helmer Jeff Wadlow who’s attached to provide the screenplay for the project and is frontrunner to direct as well.

Described as the “militant” and “more aggresive” counter part to the X-Men, X-Force was first launched in the early ’90s by Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza. The original team consisted of many fan favorite characters including Cable, Cannonball, Domino, Warpath, and Deadpool, but later incarnations have featured Wolverine, Psylocke, Sunspot, and Colossus.

As to how X-Force will tie into 20th Century Fox’s upcoming The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past remains to be seen, but expect some major announcements next week at Comic-Con International San Diego.

Fan-girl.org got some more on-the-set photos from  X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Magneto and Beast tussling in a fountain.  Unless Magneto is somehow depowered, this fight should last about two seconds.  And I know I keep bringing it up but, WHERE IS THE RED COSTUME!  I honestly don’t care if it doesn’t fit in the film, I just want it hovering in the background.  I’ll have to photoshop it in or something… X-Men: Days of Future Past will release in July 2014.  Synopsis below:

The film will be based on the comic book storyline “Days of Future Past,” which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

Tweeting addict and X-Men Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is turning to be the best source for inside information on his own movie.  Every few days, he’ll Tweet out a new pic from the set.  Here we see Magneto the Younger ready to twist something metallic.  My question is: are we going to get the frigging amazing Magneto suit from the end of X-Men First Class?  Thus far, all the photos have had the merry mutants in street clothes.  Ah well, I’m sure Singer will Tweet something on that between now and when X-Men: Days of Future Past releases in July 2014.  Synopsis below:
