I just finished the first season of Luke Cage, and while it maintains the quality of the MCU on Netflix tradition, it was probably my least favorite of the series. No knock on it, but that’s how high Daredevil and Jessica Jones raised the bar. One thing Cage did do, was start to show you how all these people are going to be tied together, and using The Night Nurse (Rosario Dawson) as a catalyst in all four series was a brilliant idea. If you’re wondering where all these trailers are coming from, the New York Comic Con is ongoing, and while it’s not the trailer deluge San Diego is, we’re getting trailer rain. Iron Fist’s challenge is the same one Luke Cage faced: he doesn’t have an iconic archvillain. It looks great, but great heroes need great villains and though the tweak to the Serpent Society they did with Cage was pretty brilliant and well-acted, it’s not Kingpin or Killgrave.
Also revealed at the same panel that gave us the Iron Fist trailer was that Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page on Daredevil will also be playing that role in The Punisher show, and the identity of who The Defenders will be facing was revealed. Well, the actress playing whoever the villain is (and I have no clue who it could be) will be Sigourney Weaver. This experiment on Netflix has just been a home run for both Marvel and Netflix and I’m looking forward to seeing Danny Rand arrive in the MCU when Iron Fist Season One is posted on March 17, 2017.
