Solo: A Star Wars Story Blu Ray Release Date and Special Features

Solo: A Star Wars Story was the second embattled Star Wars film to hit theaters in six months.  Unlike The Last Jedi, Solo flopped at the box office.  Despite making $212 million in the US and $385 million worldwide, the entry is the lowest grossing film in SW franchise history and has put the entire slate of future spin-off films on hold while Disney tries to get things back on-track with next year’s Episode IXSolo flies into home theaters on digital September 14th and on 4K and Blu Ray September 28, 2018.  Full details on the disc’s deleted scenes and special features below from Coming Soon. Kylo Ren Reviews Solo: A Star Wars Story!!!

Solo: A Star Wars Story has proven to be a box office disaster for Disney, and has been received with mixed reaction with the fans.  I enjoyed the film myself, but the most important question is….WHAT DID KYLO REN THINK OF IT???  Here with a VERY SPOILER INTENSIVE REVIEW is none other than Auralnauts’ Kylo Ren.  For Kylo’s thoughts on The Last Jedi, and Rogue One click on the link and enjoy.

Top 10: Han Solo Moments

WatchMojo’s got a timely list of everyone’s favorite scruffy-looking nerf herder’s 10 best moments from the Star Wars Saga.  WM does a really nice job putting together a highlight reel of Harrison Ford’s time with the character pulling its list from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Force Awakens (nothing from Return of the Jedi?).

The list comes in the wake of Solo: A Star Wars Story’s pretty disastrous opening weekend.  Adjusted for inflation, it’s the worst opening in franchise history, and considering the film was shot twice, Lucasfilm had a lot of money wrapped up in its second spin-off.  Every franchise eventually has a bomb, but it’s usually a film that deserves to bomb.  In this case, Solo was doomed even before The Last Jedi’s controversy that alienated a large portion of the fan base that traditionally whips itself into a frenzy for opening weekends.  I wrote a column last summer, before The Last Jedi alienated me, begging Lucasfilm to keep Star Wars in December and to stop trying to put the franchise back in May, where it had traditionally opened under FOX.  Even though it’s uneven, Solo is ultimately a good film with a really nice cast that sets itself up for even bigger adventures that we likely now will never get to see.  I hope we do, but that would take some serious introspection on Disney’s part as to why exactly the film failed to connect.  Hopefully they’ll take the lessons they should learn, let future installments breathe, and realize their mistakes.  If not, they’re going to have a much more serious problem than a single Star Wars film that lost money.Harrison Ford as Han Solo

Movie Review: Solo – A Star Wars Story (2018) “I’ve Got a Good Feeling About This!”

Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story
Anyone who has followed the troubled production of Solo: A Star Wars Story is justifiably nervous about the second Star Wars spin-off film.  Anyone who felt extremely disillusioned by the atonal mess that was Star Wars: The Last Jedi might feel that Disney has gone completely off the reservation with the franchise.  Those are both understandable sentiments.  The spoiler-free nuts and bolts on Solo is that the film feels much more like a Star Wars film than The Last Jedi did, is full of fan service, does justice to fan-favorite characters, has some surprises up its sleeve, and while it takes awhile to get going, is ultimately a fun outing.

Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer #1 (2018) *THAT is More Like It!*

Solo: A Star Wars Story has had a troubled production (to say the least), and follows on the heels of the financially successful but fan-dividing Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  The first teaser for the film was…underwhelming; however, the full trailer looks like the movie may actually be a ton of fun.  It seems a whole lot less than a heist film and more of Han, Lando (Donald Glover is going to own this), and Chewie on their first adventure together.  You can start to see the point of the film, which is to show how Han ended up the man we met in the Mos Eisley Cantina.  I have hope about this thing for the first time.  Seriously, seriously tempered hope after TLJ, but a wee bit, which is a giant change from before I watched this trailer.  Read below for Coming Soon’s summary.  Solo: A Star Wars Story is coming to theaters Memorial Day.
